Miami Hurricanes remain very much on radar for Indiana 4-star TE who is looking to take game day visit
Leo (Ind.) Junior/Senior high school four-star tight end Brock Schott last visited Miami for the Hurricanes’ elite junior day May 13, but Miami head coach Mario Cristobal and tight ends coach Cody Woodiel have made sure the Hurricanes stay on his radar.
Woodiel and Cristobal have kept in touch with Schott, the No. 219 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking and No. 11 tight end in the class, after making a strong first impression with the 6-foot-4, 210-pound prospect. He has continued to receive interest from Big Ten and midwestern programs like Notre Dame and Iowa and holds more than a dozen total offers.
He said he hasn’t planned a game day visit yet, but “it’s still possible for me to try to make it down.”
“We talk every week, (me and) coach Cristobal and Woodiel mainly,” Schott said. “We’ll usually talk once or twice and usually just talk about the season for both of (our programs) and how it’s going.”
Schott told CaneSport earlier this summer he feels Cristobal has recruited well and he expected Miami to have a bounce-back season, which the Hurricanes are on pace for through their first three games and a climb into the top 20 in the AP Poll. He was impressed by Miami on his May visit, where he spent effectively his entire trip with Woodiel. The Canes have continued to capture his interest.
“I like the campus,” Schott told CaneSport May 30. “I like how it isn’t too big and it’s easy to get around, and then how they use tight ends. It’s really great stuff. …I think that’s one of the most important things. I don’t want to go somewhere and not get used or not be able to use the skillset that I have. So knowing how they’ll use me before I get there would be a great thing.”
Schott attended Notre Dame’s end-of-summer recruiting barbecue in late July after visiting Iowa in mid-June.
CaneSport’s Take
We’re starting to get a feel for possible 2025 Miami tight ends with the Hurricanes after prospects like four-star Ryan Ghea (Alpharetta, Ga.) and four-star Kiotti Armstrong (Jasper, Tx.), and the Canes may be in the best spot with Ghea. Ghea’s teammate, 2025 three-star Miami quarterback commit Luke Nickel, is his best friend, and his decision to commit to the Hurricanes carried some weight for Ghea. Ghea and Nickel had looked at the possibility of going to college together and rooming together, although Ghea doesn’t plan to commit until next spring. Armstrong is still yet to visit campus.
