Oregon Week 5 practice observations: Bryan Addison returns for Ducks
Oregon is rolling with an almost entirely healthy roster ahead of its Week 5 showdown at Stanford this Saturday.
The opening 20 minutes of this morning’s practice at the Hatfield-Dowlin Complex outdoor fields were open to reporters and photographers, during which the Ducks went through stretching and warmups, special teams work, and individual position drills.
Here are some notes and observations from those periods.
Injuries and absences
Ducks’ starting safety Bryan Addison returned to practice on Wednesday after he was absent during the open portion of Tuesday’s practice. There is no indicator that he is dealing with a significant injury, but he warmed up with the “limited” group, which also included safety Evan Williams, nose tackle Popo Aumavae, and defensive lineman Tevita Pome’e.
Jestin Jacobs was suited up and in cleats, but did not participate in the lone position drill that was open to reporters. On Tuesday, Jacobs participated in a full-contact drill during open practice for the first time all season.
Kicker Andrew Boyle and offensive lineman Lipe Moala remained absent.
Practice observations
Instead of starting off the day with the usual special teams work, Oregon opened up practice with a series of one-on-one matchups. The view of the drill from the media areas was mostly obstructed, but Dan Lanning called out the names who took part in each matchup and reporters were able to see the end of each rep.

During the special teams period, Oregon’s punters worked on directional punting. Ross James had a couple of nice moments during the drill. The groups of kick and punt returners on Tuesday were as follows.
