Ahmad Breaux eyeing state championship to cap senior season
2024 Ruston (La.) defensive lineman Ahmad Breaux is fresh off a 29-26 win over Lafayette Christian Academy last week. The LSU commit helped his team slow down LCA’s high-powered offense, led by fellow LSU commit Ju’Juan Johnson.
“Had to come out here and game plan hard and that’s what we did all week,” Breaux told On3. “No. 7 specifically, he’s a key part to their offense. We had to patiently play him. We couldn’t play him fast like we do everybody else. We had to let him do his thing in the backfield and we based it off of that. That’s what ultimately led us to succeeding in slowing down that offense.”
The 6-2.5, 265-pound defensive lineman is getting called into action on both sides of the ball. He’s doing whatever he can to help his team end his high school career with a state championship.
“I’ve been helping on both sides of the ball. I got some dogs around me,” Breaux said. “They make me right, I make them right too. My senior year’s been pretty great, full of Ws. Sadly, one loss we couldn’t come back from, but we’re going to get that last one. We’ve got to do a lot (to win state). Games like today, playing a really great football team from down south. It requires a lot of push, a lot of grit to come out here and compete against really good football teams down the stretch.”
Breaux takes in back-to-back LSU home games
Breaux went down to LSU for the Arkansas game over the weekend, which was his first SEC game in Tiger Stadium. Death Valley impressed as you’d expect.
“The Grambling game was amazing and that was a blowout,” he said of his earlier visit this season. “The (Arkansas) game was amazing, it really showed how well the team handles adversity and how far they’re willing to push in order to win. Amazing atmosphere for an amazing game.”
LSU defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey, who is recovering from a health emergency, defensive coordinator Matt House, and director of recruiting JR Belton are all close with Breaux.
“Coach Lindsey is my dawg for real. I text him every day, every week, whenever I can. I can’t really say much about that, but he’s doing well,” he said. “Coach House, JR Belton are all my dawgs. It’s family down there.”
On Friday, slowing down Johnson was the focal point for Ruston and now that the game is behind them, he can build a stronger bond with his future teammate.
“We talk when we see each other. It’s the season, we’re going to treat ya like teammates when we’re on the same defense, but as of right now, he was the enemy. After this, our relationship is probably going to get better. I get bragging rights though.”
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Breaux ranks as the No. 46 overall EDGE and No. 20 prospect in Louisiana.
