Five storylines to watch during Michigan’s big recruiting weekend

Five storylines to watch during Michigan’s big recruiting weekend

A look at five Michigan recruiting storylines ahead of the spring game…

1. Will Michigan land Andrew Sprague?

Michigan is trending for On300 Kansas City (Mo.) Rockhurst offensive lineman Andrew Sprague on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine and will host him for the spring game today. Sprague was not planning on a return trip to Ann Arbor this spring and instead was going to opt for a summer official visit. However, Sprague’s plans have changed, and Michigan now has a chance to seal the deal with one of its priorities in the trenches I feel good about my pick for the Wolverines.

2. Any other commit candidates?

Two other 2024 prospects to keep an eye on are three-star Chicago (Ill.) Kenwood wide receiver I’Marion Stewart and Top 100 Rochester (Mich.) Adams tight end Brady Prieskorn. Stewart just visited last week and was also on campus in the winter. Stewart does not plan on making a decision until the summer, but maybe Michigan can get him to speed up the timeline. Prieskorn is a wild card. He’s not giving away any hints about a timeline, but Michigan is still in a really good position here. This will be his second visit in three months.

3. Will the offense impress the 2025 QBs?

Michigan is bringing in the two highest ranked quarterbacks in the country in the 2025 recruiting class in Belleville (Mich.) High’s Bryce Underwood and Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy’s George MacIntyre. Quarterbacks, especially this highly touted, want to see offenses air out the football. While Michigan definitely won’t be adopting the Air Raid any time soon, seeing the Wolverines push the ball downfield a bit more would help with both Underwood and MacIntyre. Underwood has visited Michigan on multiple occasions, while MacIntyre is making his first trip to Ann Arbor.

4. What’s the deal with BDS?

One of the most frequent questions we get on the board is whether or not Michigan will go all in on four-star West Bloomfield (Mich.) High defensive lineman Brandon Davis-Swain. The former Notre Dame commit has visited on multiple occasions since backing out of his pledge to the Irish and is now set to see Michigan again. The Wolverines have flirted back and forth with Davis-Swain, but I wouldn’t say he’s been prioritized. We should get more answers on where he stands on the board after this visit.

5. Will there be a surprise visitor?

Michigan always manages to get one surprise visitor in for the spring game every year. Last year, it was four-star Florida commit Aaron Gates. While Gates eventually stuck with the Gators, the Wolverines made a serious run and fell just short of flipping him away. It will be interesting to see who shows up to the spring game this year. The Wolverines are on a big run on the recruiting trail, and high level prospects have to be taking notice.
