Saturday recruiting notes and updating the visitors list
One week after traveling to Athens, South Carolina football is back in the friendly confines of Williams-Brice Stadium as the Gamecocks will host Mississippi State in their second home game of the season.
That means an opportunity to host several top targets from this class and beyond and GamecockCentral has the latest below on which top recruits are set to be in Columbia for the SEC matchup.

SATURDAY NOTES
— I’ve updated the expected visitors list below with some late additions. I have noted those with “NEW” above them, and as you’ll see South Carolina has continued to keep an eye on some in-state prospects who are committed to other programs right now and do not currently have an offer from the Gamecocks.
South Carolina would like to add another high school receiver to its class (I also expect them to be active in the portal and we are keeping an eye on Summerville (S.C.) WR Yannick Smith (ECU commit) and Savannah (Ga.) New Hampstead three-star WR Jaylen Hampton (WKU commit).
— South Carolina is going to take a swing at Statesboro (Ga.) four-star ATH Kam Mikell and his visit today will be a big part in that process.
The Gamecocks made Mikell’s Top 6 but they’ve not seemed to be in the upper part of that group. Mikell did take an official visit in the summer and at the time he was more of a DB prospect. As the process has progressed, it has turned towards him possibly being more of an offensive player.
We’ll be paying close attention to if South Carolina can make a move this weekend. Colorado, which hosted him on an OV a couple of weeks ago, appears to have made a move.
— As Chris Clark mentioned on Friday, South Carolina assistants Jody Wright and Travian Robertson were in Savannah on Friday night to watch Savannah Christian take on Calvary Baptist Day.
That was a loaded matchup featuring DL Elijah Griffin, TE Logan Brooking, DB David Bucey, and 2027 EDGE Ladamion Guyton on one side with TE Michael Smith, WR Thomas Blackshear, RB Edward Coleman, and DL Walter Mathis on the other.
Robertson also checked in on Brunswick (Ga.) three-star LB offeree Devin Smith while Wright also checked in on Savannah Country Day and Benedictine Military.
— South Carolina defensive backs coach Torrian Gray was also in Georgia checking out various high schools we’re told.
