Setting the stage for a big South Carolina MBB official visit weekend
South Carolina men’s is gearing up to begin preseason practice in a few weeks but right now the focus is on recruiting and putting the finishing touches on the early portion of the 2024 class.
And there are a few Gamecocks targets getting on campus this weekend.
This is a big few days for the Gamecocks on the hardwood, bringing in a trio of official visitors and one unofficial visitor for the weekend.
Let’s start with the official visitors and get to the unofficial visit happening at the same time.

The Gamecocks are hosting a pair of 2024 players on officials in forward Okku Federiko and Trent Noah. Federiko’s been committed for months after announcing his decision with his teammate Morris Ugusuk, who enrolled early with the 2023 class.
Noah, on the other hand, is someone the Gamecocks started recruiting heavily over the summer. They are now getting him on an official visit. This is one of his final official visits. The only one left, according to On3’s Jamie Shaw, after South Carolina is next weekend to Saint Louis.
He’s also been to Seton Hall, Western Kentucky and Butler, Richmond and Loyola-Chicago. He’s a sharp-shooter and the Gamecocks like his ability to shoot and space the floor.
On3 has Noah as a three-star prospect and the No. 146 player in the class. He checks in at No. 199 in the Industry Ranking.
South Carolina will also be out to visit Noah and watch him workout over the next few weeks as well. It would stand to reason a decision could come sooner rather than later with him.
Federiko–who plays over in Finland–checks in at No. 134 player in the On3 rankings and a top 30 power forward.

The Gamecocks will also host Eli Ellis, a four-star prospect in the 2025 class, for his first real visit to South Carolina. It’ll be an official visit.
South Carolina’s previous staff offered him and he was offered again from the new staff and will get on campus this weekend. On3 has him as a four-star prospect and the No. 94 player in the class.
He comes in at No. 92 in the Industry Ranking. Originally from Hickory, North Carolina, Ellis plays for Overtime Elite in the Atlanta area.
South Carolina assistant Eddie Shannon was in Atlanta this week for the OTE Pro Day to watch Ellis work out along with a few other prospects like Mikel Brown.
On3 has Brown as the No. 27 player in the class. He’s the No. 14 overall play in the Industry Ranking.
South Carolina will also host in-state, 2025 top 150 player Hayden Assemian for an unofficial visit this weekend. It’s been a very Gamecocks-heavy stretch for Assemian. He was on campus for the football game against Furman, picked up an offer and then came back less than two weeks later for yet another visit.

The Gamecocks have really ramped up his recruitment over the last few months once coaches could reach out to 2025 prospects.
South Carolina also went up to his school last week to watch Assemian workout. He also told GamecockCentral NC State, Clemson, Virginia Tech and others were showing interest or scheduled to come watch him work out.
The Gamecocks also stopped off to see 2025 prospect Tristan Thompson and 2027 prospect Josh Leonard out of Wilson (S.C.).
As a reminder, the Gamecocks have a few official visits on the docket in the coming weeks. Elijah Crawford comes in next weekend and KJ Greene in mid-October.
