Texas not letting up in the pursuit of Wardell Mack

Marrero, La. – The Texas Longhorns are not letting up in the pursuit of Florida commit Wardell Mack.
The 6-foot, 175-pound versatile defensive back and playmaker was back on campus at Florida last weekend for the Gators big win over Tennessee.
While the Florida commitment remains solid, the No. 97 ranked prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking remains in contact with the Texas Longhorns. And that includes the likelihood of a game day visit this season.
“Honestly, It could happen,” Mack told Inside Texas Monday afternoon. “It most likely will happen. We are talking about a date to visit.”
Mack and family talk daily with Steve Sarkisian and Terry Joseph.
“I talk to Coach Sark daily. Both Coach Sark and Coach Terry Joseph daily. We have to find a date that will work for a visit. He (Sarkisian) feels like I’m one of the best players in the nation, regardless of position. He’s prioritizing me as well. I saw that on the official visit. He feels like I can come in and play right away.”
Defensive back coach and area recruiter Terry Joseph has a fairly simple message for Mack.
“He tells me it’s the place to be. The place to play against competition day in, day out. And you are going to grow as a man, and a player.”
Mack watched Texas take down Alabama in Tuscaloosa. According to the New Orleans area standout, the Longhorns winning wasn’t a surprise.
“Yeah it did. I kind of felt like it was going to happen, honestly. Texas came with some heat. Being around the players (on the official visit), seeing how well-rounded the players are and how the chemistry is there. Being around the players and coaches, I saw they were on the right track.”
Mack committed to Florida over Texas August 14. Florida State and LSU rounded out the four schools in contention when Mack announced.
Mack on Florida State and LSU
The Florida commitment remains in constant communication with Florida State and LSU in addition to Texas. And he plans to attend a game at each school this season.
Florida State: I love Tallahassee, honestly. It’s a great place with good people. They are on the right path. That’s a championship team, honestly. I’m going out there November 11 for the Miami game. I talk to Coach (Mike) Norvell, Coach (Pat) Surtain and a couple of others. Coach Norvell tells me he will be there until the end. He will ride it out with me.
LSU: Coach (Frank) Wilson, Coach Sherman (Wilson) and Coach (Robert) Steeples. I talk to the majority of them often. It’s mainly the recruits to. My teammate, and those guys aren’t backing off. They are trying to get me over there this weekend for the Arkansas game.
Mack is the No. 97 ranked prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking. He checks is the No. 12 cornerback, and the No. 3 ranked prospect in the Pelican State.
