Gators’ victory over Tennessee left an ‘amazing impression’ on in-state WR Jayvan Boggs

Gators’ victory over Tennessee left an ‘amazing impression’ on in-state WR Jayvan Boggs

It’s safe to say Saturday’s experience at the University of Florida surpassed the expectations for Jayvan Boggs.

A fast-rising 2025 wide receiver from Cocoa (Fla.) High, Boggs was one of a boatload of prospects in attendance for UF’s victory over Tennessee. He has been up to Gainesville multiple times in the past, but experiencing that statement victory is definitely something he will look back on for years to come.

“I loved the game atmosphere; it was amazing! It was rocking in the Swamp,” Boggs told Gators Online. “I also had great conversations with (wide receivers) coach (Billy) Gonzales and coach (Billy) Napier. I loved everything about the game.”

When dissecting Boggs’ skill set, one player who comes to mind is Gators wide receiver Eugene Wilson III.

I’m not saying the 2025 prospect is going to be a five-star prospect and immediate starter like Wilson, but they have similiar skill sets and are known for generating highlight-reel plays after the catch.

On Saturday, those traits at the position were echoed by Billy Gonzales.

“My conversations with coach Gonzales were great,” said Boggs. “He said I fit their offense perfectly and he needs me there. We talked a little more about me getting back up there soon.”

The Gators are trending as the heavy front runner

Going forward, Boggs has visits scheduled with Ohio State (Oct. 21) and Penn State (Nov. 11). Both of those programs have offered. There is a chance he visits UCF this weekend as well.

Looking at the big picture, Florida and OSU have been out front since the summer. It’s very close at the top, but I’m favoring UF due to proximity. As for the Nittany Lions, they would likely make up a top three.

Additional offers on the table for Boggs include Louisville, Pittsburgh, Boston College, West Virginia and USF.

“That was my first time seeing a UF game and it definitely left an amazing impression on me. I really loved the Swamp,” Boggs said. “Florida is a school that stands out to me a lot in my recruitment.”

The Gators, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, are trending with odds of 57.7 percent.
