Top-40 Gators target Jalen Wiggins: ‘There’s just something about that Orange and Blue’

Although Jalen Wiggins does not plan to make a decision until next year, there is no doubt Florida is generating the most momentum in his recruitment.

Wiggins, a highly-regarded 2025 defensive lineman from Tallahassee (Fla.) Rickards, was just on campus over the weekend as well. The Gators have already received four visits from him this calendar year, with the latest trip having been for the statement victory over Tennessee.

According to the On300 rankings, Wiggins is the No. 5-ranked defensive lineman and No. 35-ranked prospect regardless of position.

“Everything is just great,” Wiggins said of Florida when speaking with Gators Online. “I loved the game tonight; I loved everything, like, the atmosphere, hospitality and all that.”

When speaking with GO over the summer, the 6-foot-5, 245-pound Wiggins listed three schools sitting very high on his list. Those were Florida, Florida State and UCF. Nothing has changed regarding that trio, but since Aug. 1, additional programs have been on the rise as well.

“I would say now, most schools have been opening up and talking to me. Florida has been; Georgia, LSU and Michigan have been as well, and also the Florida schools,” said Wiggins.

A quartet of Gators staff members are in hot pursuit

According to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, UF’s leading odds are currently at 63.7 percent. That is largely due to the amount of times Wiggins has been to campus. No predictions have been made to this point, but if I was to make one today, the Gators would be my selection.

Billy Napier, defensive line coach Sean Spencer, running backs coach Jabbar Juluke and recruiting staffer Larry Williams are among those involved in the All-American’s recruitment.

“As far as lists, they are pretty high. This was a great game,” Wiggins said of Florida. “I’ve always been a fan for a long time. I don’t know; there’s just something about that Orange and Blue; there’s just something about it.”

Additional offers on the table include Miami, Auburn, Stanford, Arkansas, Penn State, N.C. State, Syracuse, Maryland and Purdue.
