Rocky Top Rewind: What Happened in The Swamp?

Rocky Top Rewind: What Happened in The Swamp?

Volquest’s weekly live YouTube show looked back at Tennessee’s 29-16 loss at Florida in The Swamp from over the weekend and discussed what went wrong and why. Is Tennessee’s offense fixable under quarterback Joe Milton and what happened to the defense, a unit that was a bright spot the first two weeks of the season.

Eric Cian and Brent Hubbs are joined by Grant Ramey and Matt Ray as the crew breaks it all down and gets you set for UTSA week back at Neyland Stadium. The show is presented every week by our friends Spivey, King & Spivey, LLP. You got a problem? Let them find a solution for you. TN Trail Lawyers.

Matt Ray on Tennessee – Florida crowd noise

“Yeah, it was loud. When you look at it when they announced the attendance, I’m not going to sit here and say that I was up to par on what the attendance was going to be at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, but the attendance a little over 90,000. I was pretty shocked that it was as loud as it was for that 90,000. And it seemed like each procedural penalty that Tennessee got on first down, which were a handful, it ramped up a little bit more. So, it’s a really, really good environment on Saturday night. If you were a Gators fan, really, really got loud there toward the end of the first half. And what was probably the most crucial time for Tennessee you needed a chance to go to for one there and that was probably the loudest than it was.”

Grant Ramey on Tennessee’s struggles on the road this weekend

“Boys, last night, I swear it was like watching a team that it was the first time it had ever gone on the road. They had no concept of what a hostile environment was going to be like. It’s the busted plays out of timeouts and like y’all talking about the play clock running down and they’re just kind of sitting there. The whole drama with the kick football in fourth down and running it and just getting blown up in the backfield. I mean, on that play, there’s an eight-yard cushion on Bru [Mcoy] and its fourth and one on the sideline and if he just stands up and throws. It’s an easy first down because I’ve seen it happen to Tennessee a million times and it’s the most frustrating thing that you can watch. It just felt like everything was so labored and so hard and it was like they had never been on the road before.”
