Weekend visit for Joshua Lair will determine if Texas A&M is a leader in his recruitment

Texas A&M will host class of 2024 Missouri City (Tex.) Fort Bend Marshall safety Joshua Lair for an unofficial visit on Saturday, April 1. The visit will be his second since January, when he was offered by the Aggies.

The 6-foot-2, 185 pound defender holds 23 total offers, so his recruitment is quite busy. Lair has taken several visits in the past weeks and continues to take more.

The Aggies are trying to solidify themselves as a contender for Lair. And this visit might be the one to get it done.

“I plan on making a top three in the near future,” Lair said. “This visit will definitely let me know if Texas A&M is in that top three.”

Lair says his best relationships at Texas A&M are with defensive backs coach TJ Rushing and secondaries coach Bryant Gross-Armiento. I would expect Rushing and “BGA” to spend ample time with Lair while on his visit. 

Lair has not given a commitment timeline yet but because his recruitment is still fresh, but he planning that top three to come out soon. 

With this newest visit on the schedule, Texas A&M is now the leader in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine to land his commitment at 32.9%.

Texas A&M holds four commitments in the class of 2024 in four-star Hattiesburg (Miss.) Oak Grove quarterback Anthony Maddox, four-star Longview (Texas) Pine Tree defensive lineman Dealyn Evans, four-star Katy (Texas) Tompkins offensive lineman Ashton Funk, and four-star Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton wide receiver Debron Gatling.

Although Lair is in the class of 2024, he is not yet ranked by On3, but given his newfound prominence and offer sheet, I would say it is possible we see Lair emerge as blue-chip prospect in the next rankings update.
