4-star WR Bryce Cain ‘1 million percent committed’ to Auburn, sees role similar to Jay Fair

FOLEY, ALABAMA – Bryce Cain, a 4-star receiver from Mobile (Ala.) Baker, has been committed to Auburn since June 13, 2023. He camped at Auburn without an offer and leaning toward committing to Ole Miss, then left with a Tigers’ offer. Very soon after, he made a public pledge with Auburn and has not looked back since.
“I’m 100, no–let me repeat that–I’m 1,000,000 percent locked in,” Cain said after a big Friday night performance.

Cain vs. Thompson
Cain was targeted several times in the first half, but the ball was thrown behind him or way out in front of him. It seems that Baker’s quarterback, Mississippi State commit Josh Flowers, was having trouble gauging Cain’s speed on his routes. Each time, Cain had a step on the corner covering him.
The second half was totally different. The ball was placed better and Cain responded with three touchdowns to help Baker win a close game with Foley.
“It felt really good, I came out slow in the first half, but I knew it be a close finish, to come out in the second half playing the hardest. We just finished the game out great,” Cain said.
Fellow Auburn wide receiver commit Perry Thompson was playing safety on the other side of the ball. The two had a few run-ins throughout the night. Thompson knocked the ball away from Cain right before half. Cain responded in the second half by running a corner route and finding space in the back of the end zone and away from Thompson. It was a good battle all night.
“Yeah, it’s all love man,” Cain said. “I love Perry, he is going to be my teammate next year. It’s fun playing against your teammates that are going to be there for you next year.”
Was Cain surprised by Thompson’s flip from Alabama?
“I’ve been seeing that coming,” Cain said. “He knew where to go. He knew where home was.”
What is next with Auburn?
As of right now, Cain is unsure of who the main recruiting targets left on the board are, but he knows the coaching staff will finish strong.
“Not that I know of, but we are going to come out with a win either way,” Cain said.
Cain has not made it to an Auburn game yet, but he knows of three he will definitely make. He has no plans to make it to any other school’s games that he knows of.
“No, I haven’t yet,” Cain said. “I am planning to go to the Iron Bowl, then Auburn vs. Georgia, Auburn vs. Ole Miss, Auburn vs. Mississippi State, yeah I will make it to all of those games.”
Cain has been impressed with Auburn receiver Jay Fair so far this season. He will have a similar role when he arrives at Auburn.
“It’s going to be a slot receiver,” Cain said. “He (Jay Fair) is playing great. He is one of my inspirations. I want to be just as dominate as him right now.”
