Four-star WR Jordan Ross sets spring visit to Michigan State

Michigan State offered Garden Grove (CA) Warren High School four-star wide receiver Jordan Ross in July 2022. The 6-foot, 175-pound receiver picked up his first offer from Notre Dame in May 2021, with Penn State, Washington, Auburn, Colorado, and others joining the race. 

Ross is ranked a four-star, the No. 171 overall recruit, the No. 31 wide receiver, and the No. 18 recruit in California by the 2024 On3 Industry Rankings. 

Ross is planning two possible visits to East Lansing, the first coming in April for the spring game. 

“I have actually recently talked to (Michigan State),” Ross told SpartanMag.com. “I talked to them yesterday and will visit on April 15 and also maybe do a camp there.”

The communication between Ross and the Spartans’ staff has not always been consistent since the offer, but wide receivers coach Courtney Hawkins has shown a high level of interest as the Spartans transition to the 2024 recruiting class. 

“Our (communication) definitely has picked up for sure,” Ross said. “I talk to the wide receivers Coach Hawkins. I think (our relationship) is becoming stronger as we get to know each other more.”

When the idea to visit Michigan State for the spring game was proposed to Ross, he quickly agreed. 

“It was all on my coach,” Ross said. “He asked me if I wanted to go and I said ‘yes’. Michigan State is in my top 15. It will be a great experience to visit a different state and environment. I am looking to see the fans and the love of what is up there.” 

Growing up out West, his knowledge of the Spartan program is limited. The unofficial visit will be an important step for Ross to learn more about Michigan State.

“To be honest, I only know that they have a great program,” Ross said. “They are good at getting kids out there.”

Ross is also planning a visit to Tennessee. He visited Colorado, Miami, and Arizona State in January. The four-star recently told On3 that Colorado, Washington, and Washington State are some schools currently standing out.
