Four-Star LB Jonathan Epperson Garnering Attention
Recently making On3’s initial On300 rankings for the 2025 class was Jonathan Epperson, a 6-foot, 190-pound linebacker from Auburn Riverside High in Auburn (Wash.).
The On3 Industry Ranking lists Epperson 156th nationally, 14th among linebackers, and as the best player in the state of Washington. The Ducks hold a commanding 70% lead in On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine.
It wouldn’t be the first time Oregon was able to land the top-ranked player in Washington. In 2022, the Ducks signed 5-star offensive tackle Josh Conerly out of Seattle.
Epperson visited Oregon March 4 with HEIR football and its director, Reggie Jones.
“It was amazing,” he said. “I loved the atmosphere and the energy the coaches brought.”
Epperson spent time with Brian Bachman, a recruiting and player personnel analyst, and got to know Oregon’s current linebacker group.
Epperson said he’s hearing regularly from Arizona, Oregon, Oregon State, Utah, Washington and USC. Standing out from that group: Oregon, Utah, USC and Arizona.
Epperson plans on visiting Washington this weekend and will most likely visit Oregon over his spring break.
Epperson loves the way Dan Lanning treats his players.
“They are very family-oriented,” he said, “and coach Lanning makes his guys feel like they belong. And he has a great staff that backs him up in helping carry that along.”
All things considered, Epperson thought the Ducks had a great first year under Lanning.
“I think they did amazing with a new head coach and coaching staff changes,” he said. “And I loved the game they played against UNC.”
Epperson has several personal and team goals for his junior season.
“Just to prove everybody right and show people I am that guy,” he said. “So whatever it takes to do that.
“On top of showing people who I am, I want to – alongside my co-captains and leaders — lead our team to a successful season and grow overall as a team.”
