Nebraska Recruiting: Visitor Preview for Northern Illinois game

Nebraska will host around 70 recruits on Saturday night. They will attend Matt Rhule‘s first home game since being named the head coach in November. There is one official visitor, several commitments in the 2024 and 2025 classes; some PWO commits, and some top targets in the 2024 and 2025 classes.

Here is a visitor preview for some of the top targets in Lincoln this weekend for Nebraska’s home opener of the 2023-24 season.

Official Visitor

Nebraska will host Brandon Baker for a third time this weekend. Nebraska made Baker’s final five list but are trying to find a way to climb back into contention. Baker is currently trending to Texas.

2024 Commitments

There will be 11 of Nebraska’s 24 commitments in the 2024 class at the game on Saturday night. Several of them are in-state recruits, but Carlon Jones and Gibson Pyle made the trip from Texas, and Kamdyn Koch is in from Maryland. Koch may be back next weekend for his official visit.

Top uncommitted 2024 targets

Caleb Benning has people buzzing. Some call Benning the top player in the state, leading the top high school team in the state. Caleb Redd is a Kentucky commitment who has visited Nebraska before. Jayshawn Ross, another Edge recruit from Missouri, is back in Lincoln after visiting Nebraska two times already this year. Nebraska has limited room left in the 2024 class, but there is still a big need for pass rushers.

2025 Commitments

All three of the 2025 commitments will be in attendance on Saturday. The three in-state commitments are essential to bring back week after week to get some momentum going for the ’25 class.

Top uncommitted 2025 targets

Nebraska is bringing in in-state recruits, regional recruits, and national recruits. Champ Davis and Kaprice Keith are two of the top juniors in Nebraska. The Huskers have their No. 1 QB target, Alex Manske, coming back to Lincoln again since he picked up his offer this summer. Other top regional recruits attending include OT Jack Lange, WR CJ Simon, and Edge Charlie Woleben. Nebraska is also hosting what could be one of their top OTs in 2025, Brian Tapu, from Utah.

PWO commit/offers

Izaac Dickey has accepted his PWO opportunity from Nebraska, while OT Jacob Arop, QB Bode Soukup, and LB Derek Wacker are all holding PWO offers.
