‘Noles QB commit Tramell Jones on Gators: ‘They love everything about me’

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA — Tramell Jones, the 2025 quarterback from Mandarin High, committed to Florida State in April but that hasn’t stopped Florida from continuing to recruit him.

In fact …

“I hear from Florida every week; probably like three times a week,” Jones said Friday night.

According to Jones, he communicates mostly with Gators coach Billy Napier and offensive analyst Ryan O’Hara, who coaches the Florida quarterbacks. Their message to him?

“They still want to recruit me even though I’m committed,” Jones said. “They love my play style, they love how they can implement me in their offense — they love everything about me.”

Prying Jones away from Florida State might not be easy.

“I’m pretty locked in,” Jones said. “I’m really solid with FSU right now. That’s my school right now.”

Jones attended FSU’s recent win over LSU in Orlando.

“It was pretty much in Doak Stadium to be honest,” Jones said. “There was a lot of FSU fans. I rarely saw LSU fans, even on the LSU sideline. It was a great experience.”

What does Jones like most about the Seminoles?

“Atmosphere and also the coaches,” Jones said. “The coaches are great.”

Tramell Jones will be at The Swamp on Saturday

Yet, he hasn’t shut the door entirely on other schools. Several of them keep recruiting him.

“Florida is the main one, Kentucky and also Pitt,” Jones said.

Jones will be at The Swamp on Saturday to watch the Florida-Tennessee game. Here’s what he’d like to see from the Gators:

“Definitely improvement all around,” Jones said. “I know this is Coach Napier’s second year and they’re still improving as the team. But I think they’re building something special and I want to see that. .. It’s good to see them develop a quarterback that’s not as athletic as Anthony Richardson. Because Anthony Richardson would get them out of a lot of things with his athletic ability and size and arm strength.”

Are the Gators a realistic threat to flip him?

“We’ll see,” Jones said. “That’s why I’m coming to the game, to check them out. See what they have against Tennessee. Tennessee is a great team. They’re just solid all the way around so we’re just gonna see how it plays out.”
