RPM Rundown: Update on 2 Auburn RPM predictions, 3 potential RPM predictions

Auburn is 2-0 with another home game upcoming.

Can the Tigers keep the ball rolling on the recruiting trail, though? They have to.

I have two open RPM predictions logged for big Auburn targets. We will update each on how I am feeling about those picks as of today.

These previous predictions for class of 2024 and 2025 recruits have made their decisions:

OT, Reese Baker, Huntsville (Ala.) Madison Academy

PICK: Auburn – 65% confidence, 5/2/23

FEELING: Not good

WHY THE PICK WAS MADE: I put in a prediction for Baker to land with the Tigers shortly after the offer was announced. He had been on Jake Thornton’s radar for some time and the timing of the offer says that Thornton was ready to make a move for Baker. I think Auburn is the clear front runner and could add Baker to the class when the time is right. However, there is something worth tracking here…

NEW: Confidence that Baker ends up in Auburn’s class continues to drop. His name has come up less and less. As of right now, I am not projecting him in the Tigers’ class. He will more than likely hold out for a while to see what other offers may come in. Until then, my pick will remain on Auburn until I find another school to change my pick to.

RB, Alvin Henderson, Elba (Ala.)

PICK: Auburn – 60% confidence, 6/12/23

FEELING: Great

WHY THE PICK WAS MADE: Henderson lived at Auburn for almost a full week during June. He was in town for a basketball camp, but during his down time, was with Auburn coaches. Even before this, it seemed the Tigers were gaining some momentum. Florida State, Oregon, and Georgia seem to be the biggest threats, but the Tigers have the momentum right now.

NEW: In the previous update, I changed the feel from “Great” to “Excellent” in regards to Henderson. In this update, I’m dropping it back down to “Great.” At one time, our intel suggested that a commitment could happen as soon as the season opener against UMass. Henderson was at the game, but he didn’t make an announcement. Even with a drop of confidence level, the confidence is still pretty high. Not much has changed here as Auburn still leads according to our intel, and may have a commanding lead. The question now is, when might Henderson pull the trigger? What other schools will he visit before he does so

Three potential predictions

— 2025 OL, Mal Waldrep, Phenix City (Ala.) Central

Waldrep goes to Central Phenix City, and that has been a tough school for Auburn in recruiting. It may mean nothing, but the bottom line is that the Tigers have not gotten a top target from the school in recent years. That, at least, is under consideration when making RPM picks. Waldrep, though, is high on Auburn and vice versa. He is also close with new Auburn offensive line commit Spencer Dowland from Athens (Ala.). The two have talked about teaming up after camping together several times.

— 2025 LB, Eric Winters, Enterprise (Ala.)

So far in his time as Auburn linebackers coach, Josh Aldridge has gotten who he wants. Winters is high on his list for the next class of linebackers. There are several factors that lead me to believe Auburn could be the team to beat for Winters: playing time, scheme fit, Aldridge, and proximity to home are big ones.

— 2025 DL, Jourdin Crawford, Birmingham (Ala.) Parker

Crawford will be at Auburn on Saturday. He has been at Auburn for two Big Cat Weekend events in a row. He was also at the first Junior Day of the Freeze era, and at a spring practice in March. Auburn is winning the visit battle here, and I think for good reason. Texas and Miami and heavily in the mix and Crawford says he is not close to making a decision yet. Still, I like what I am hearing about the Tigers.
