Weekend Visit Preview: Top targets galore at Georgia, Texas, and Florida and more

Weekend Visit Preview: Top targets galore at Georgia, Texas, and Florida and more

Just a little more than three months remain until the Early Signing Period in December, and some of the nation’s top recruiting targets will be back out on the road this weekend for visits. While more than 90 percent of the top prospects in the 2024 class are already committed, that isn’t stopping some of them from taking visits to other programs.

And of the select few who aren’t already pledged somewhere, the visits they’ll take over the next few weeks and months will be pivotal in the decisions they ultimately make.

Without further ado, let’s look at which programs will be welcoming some major visitors this weekend.

Georgia

The top-ranked Bulldogs welcome South Carolina into Sanford Stadium, and they’ll have some of the nation’s best in 2024, 2025 and 2026 on hand as well.

On3’s DawgsHQ.com has compiled a list of expected visitors that includes Five-Star Plus+ QB commit Dylan Raiola and four-star running back Dwight Phillips, also a UGA commit. They’ll be doing their best to flip Five-Star Plus+ safety KJ Bolden, who committed to Florida State over the Bulldogs back in August. Georgia has a tough road to hoe there, but Bolden coming back to campus is no small feat.

Recent Florida decommit and top UGA defensive line target Michai Boireau is expected in as the Bulldogs look to make a big move for the 6-foot-5, 350-pound mauler. Elsewhere along the defensive line, five-star Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei stud Aydin Breland will be back in Athens for an unofficial visit after taking an official this summer. Texas A&M and Oregon look to be the Bulldogs’ main competition.

In the 2025 class, five-stars Elijah Griffin, Zayden Walker, Na’eem Offord and elite four-stars Anquon Fegans, Caleb Cunningham and Jared Smith will also be in.

Texas

The Longhorns are buzzing after their win over Alabama, and that victory couldn’t have come at a better time. Steve Sarkisian and Co. will host St. Louis (Mo.) University High five-star receiver Ryan Wingo for an unofficial after getting him on campus in June. Missouri and Texas look to be the main two contenders in his recruitment with Tennessee trailing in third.

The big news for Texas on Wednesday night, as reported by InsideTexas.com’s Gerry Hamilton, is that four-star EDGE Solomon Williams will be on the Forty Acres for his official visits this weekend. With Five-Star Plus+ EDGE Colin Simmons and four-star Zina Umeozulu already in the fold, Texas is looking to close with Williams and get him in their class by the end of the month. Alabama and Oregon are seen as the two biggest threats for Steve Sarkisian and Co.

The Longhorns will also host some of their top 2025 targets including:

Michael Fasusi, OT, Lewisville (Texas) High
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 18 (4-star)

Andrew Marsh, WR, Fulshear (Texas) Jordan
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 16 (4-star)

Cobey Sellers, CB, Manvel (Texas) Shadow Creek
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 165 (4-star)

Devin Harper, OT, Shreveport (La.) Captain Shreve
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 221 (4-star)

Jonte Newman, OT, Cypress (Texas) Bridgeland
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 273 (4-star)

Colorado

If there’s any program with more national buzz right now than Texas, it’s the Colorado Buffaloes. Fresh off a dominant win over old Big 12 rival Nebraska, the Buffs are sitting inside the top-20 nationally and making a big impression on recruits.

The expected visitor list in Boulder isn’t huge, but it does have two major targets. Tennessee four-star commit Boo Carter will be in town for an unofficial visit, as will elite offensive tackle Jordan Seaton, who is just on the cusp of five-star status.

Carter took an official visit with the Buffs this summer, and has kept his ears open despite his pledge to the Vols. Seaton is as coveted of a recruit as there is left uncommitted in this cycle, and he loves what he is seeing from Coach Prime and Co.

“They kind of came a little bit later in my recruitment process, but they’ve got a shot,” Seaton told On3’s Josh Newberg. “They always have a shot. It’s Prime, you can’t say no.”

Colorado 2024 wide receiver commit Zycarl Lewis Jr. is also expected in, as is his close friend and top-50 2025 prospect Dallas Wilson.

Nebraska

Speaking of Nebraska, the Huskers will get one last shot at Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei offensive tackle Brandon Baker before his commitment on Sept. 24. Texas looks to be the strong favorite to land him, but the Huskers will get their final chance to sway him this weekend.

Florida

The Gators have a massive opportunity to swing momentum on the field back in their favor when No. 11 Tennessee comes to the Swamp on Saturday.

Billy Napier and Co. already have a top-three recruiting class, headlined by five-stars DJ Lagway and Xavier Filsaime. Lagway will be in attendance as the team’s ace recruiter, and he’ll be working on the likes of four-star DL LJ McCray and four-star DB Zay Mincey out of Daytona Beach (Fla.) Mainland.

Other than elite offensive tackle Jordan Seaton, those two might be UF’s biggest targets remaining on the board, and both are strongly considering the Gators. Florida will have to hold off Georgia, Florida State and Miami for McCray, who is expected to announce in October. As for Mincey, Miami looks to be the biggest threat.

Coming off an official visit to Colorado last weekend, Statesboro (Ga.) High four-star WR Kam Mikell will be in Gainesville as well. The Buffaloes made a big move with him over the weekend, but Florida, Tennessee and Georgia are the other schools who would very much like to add him to the class.

In addition to the key 2024 targets, Florida will also have more than two-dozen major 2025 and 2026 targets in town. For the full list, check out GatorsOnline.
