Tennessee announces uniform combination for Saturday night’s game at Florida
Tennessee football will be in all white for Saturday night’s game at Florida. The Vols announced on social media on Thursday morning that they’ll be wearing white helmets, white jerseys and white pants to open SEC play against the Gators at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
No. 11 Tennessee (2-0) and Florida (1-1) will kickoff Saturday at 7 p.m. Eastern Time (TV: ESPN) at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville. The Vols are looking for their first win at The Swamp since 2003.
Florida will wear its traditional orange helmet with blue jerseys and blue pants, while encouraging fans to also wear blue.
“This is Florida-Tennessee,” second-year Florida coach Billy Napier said this week. “:I think our fan base pretty well-versed in this one. But we are encouraging our fans to wear blue. Look, our fans have an opportunity to contribute to the game. They are truly part of the team.
“They can impact the game. There’s an energy that they provide for our players, but there’s also an element where they can make it very difficult for the opponents. It’s one of the most iconic and more challenging venues in all of college football.
“I anticipate that Saturday night, it will be at its best,” Napier added. “I know our people take great pride in their role and what they bring to the table.”

Tennessee wore its traditional home look at Nissan Stadium in Nashville on September 2 in the 49-13 win over Virginia. The Vols lost 38-14 at Florida in 2021, the first season under Josh Heupel, wearing white helmets, white jerseys and orange pants.
Last season Tennessee wore four different helmets and two alternate uniforms. The Vols wore an orange helmet at South Carolina, an all-black Dark Mode uniform against Kentucky and the Smokey Grey alternate in the win at LSU.
The Vols wore orange pants in the loss at Georgia last November and white-on-white in the 56-0 win at Vanderbilt in the season finale.
The Smokey Grey Series
Tennessee debuted the newest edition of The Smokey Grey series on Saturday in the 30-13 win over Austin Peay, wearing the ‘Artful Dodger’ version of the alternate uniform, paying homage to Condredge Holloway.
The look featured orange shoulders on the grey jersey, a white outline of the orange jersey number, two orange stripes on the grey pants and a grey facemask and thinner orange helmet stripe, all features from the away uniform worn during the Holloway era in the early 1970s.
In August 2022 Tennessee announced the return of the Smokey Grey alternate uniform, which was first worn during the 2013 season but was not worn between 2018 and 2021.
The Vols announced the return of the alternate uniform while also adding that a new version of the uniform would be worn at least once over the next four seasons and that there was “potential to scale beyond those years.”
