2026 USC wide receiver commit Ja’Myron Baker receives first national ranking

2026 USC wide receiver commit Ja’Myron Baker receives first national ranking

There are currently two commitments in USC’s class of 2026, the headliner obviously being five-star quarterback Julian Lewis, who is ranked as the No. 1 overall prospect in the class. The second is the most recent pledge for the Trojans, Ja’Myron Baker, who announced his commitment during USC’s week one game against Nevada.

The 6-foot-0.5, 170 pound Los Alamitos (Cal.) wide receiver was unranked by all four of the major recruiting services. There are only a select few prospects who have rankings in the class.

As a freshman at Los Alamitos, Baker reeled in 32 receptions for 494 yards and five touchdowns.

Today, Baker earned his first national ranking by a major service.

Rivals released their first 2026 rankings and Baker debuted in their rankings as the No. 79 overall prospect in the class.

On3 has not yet ranked Baker and because he only has one ranking, he does not yet have a On3 Industry Ranking. But with this first ranking in place, it is likely others will be high on him.

Just following his commitment, Baker spoke with WeAreSC about his decision.

“A couple reasons I committed was because not only is the coaching staff amazing but coach Lincoln Riley is the quarterback whisperer and will always have a great QB to get the ball to his receivers. Along with being able to see what Zachariah Branch is able to do as a freshman while being able to play at home. It’s a match made in heaven that I prayed about.”

OTHER: Julian Lewis the youngest football player ever to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated

Even prior to his August 22 commitment to USC, Julian Lewis was among the hottest of topics in the football recruiting world. After all, he is the No. 1 ranked prospect in the class of 2026. But after today, Lewis won’t just be talked about in the recruiting world, but instead just the *sports* world.

As of this morning, Julian ‘JuJu’ Lewis became the youngest football player ever to don the cover of Sports Illustrated.

His feature comes as part of SI’s ‘The Money Issue’, which focuses on some of the biggest names in the Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) space. Some of the other names involved are LSU star gymnast Olivia Dunne, LSU women’s basketball star Angel Reese, and Michigan running back Blake Corum. Lewis’ story was written by Brian Burnsed.
