VQ Podcast: Can Joe Milton and the ‘throw game’ improve down in The Swamp?
Tennessee heads into its Southeastern conference opener at rival Florida, with a 2-0 record and plenty of good things on tape. More on defense than anything, however, as the offense has some questions marks leaving the Austin Peay game. Can quarterback Joe Milton and the passing attack with his receivers greatly improve this week on the road? Can Tennessee win without it?
What does Tennessee’s game plan need to be at Florida to win for the first time since 2003 at the venue? Quote of the podcast on Tennessee
Brent Hubbs on if the Austin Peay game was a serious concern for Tennessee…
“I just think that it’s the fact that the passing game is not in sync, for whatever reason. Settled in, overanxious uptight – whatever. We can debate and argue all you want to – should he have caught this one? Should he have got that one? Was it a bad throw? The bottom line is they didn’t complete the pass. They didn’t execute play. And if Tennessee’s going to go and grow and do the things they want to do, they’ve got to throw the football and they’ve got to – what’s the ole saying, the throw game? The passing game must be better. They have got to complete passes. They have got to stretch the field vertically in the passing game for Tennessee moving forward and that’s got to start this week. I just don’t believe they can throw side to side the entire season and be the type of offense they need to be to have a chance to win and live up to the expectations record wise that people have for this team.”
