Here are the final snap counts and grades for Nebraska’s offense against Colorado, courtesy of PFF.

The Huskers offense had four turnovers and just 119 yards passing in their 36-14 loss in Boulder.

Quarterback grades

HOL take: Quarterback Jeff Sims left the game with an ankle injury on Saturday. Heinrich Haarberg came in as the No. 2 quarterback, as Chubba Purdy has been limited with an injury in practice. Purdy saw one snap when Haarberg had to come out of the game for losing his helmet.

Sims was responsible for all four of NU’s turnovers – three fumbles and one interception. He’s responsible for seven of the eight in two games, which leads the country.

Sims had seven designed runs for 73 yards and one QB scramble for 8 yards. His 57-yard touchdown run in the third quarter was the long play of the game for either team.

Sims was 3-of-8 for 48 yards and one interception on throws that traveled 10+ yards down the field. He was 6-of-6 for 58 yards on throws under 10 yards. He was under pressure on nine of his 18 dropbacks.

Running back grades

HOL take: It was an even split of how Nebraska played Gabe Ervin Jr. and Rahmir Johnson at running back. Anthony Grant did not see the field on Saturday.

Ervin Jr. led all rushers in the game with 17 carries for 74 yards. Both numbers were career highs for him. Johnson had 66 yards on 11 carries. Ervin Jr. had long runs of 26 and 11 yards, and Johnson had longs of 44 and 11 yards.

The backs were only targeted in the passing game twice. Johnson had one catch for three yards, along with a drop.

HOL take: Nebraska rode its top three receivers Marcus Washington, Alex Bullock and Billy Kemp IV for nearly the entire game. We saw Malachi Coleman get a few first-half snaps. Freshman Jaylen Lloyd did not see the field on Saturday. We saw Joshua Fleeks take his first career snaps as a Husker late in the game.

Kemp produced NU’s long pass play of the day at 21 yards and had 26 yards after the catch. Two of Kemp’s catches converted first downs.

HOL take: The play of tight ends Thomas Fidone and Nate Boerkircher was one of the real bright spots for the offense. The two combined for four catches for 46 yards. Fidone scored his first career touchdown and logged his first career receptions as a Husker. 15 of Boerkircher’s 33 receiving yards came after the catch.

HOL take: Nebraska’s offensive line allowed eight quarterback pressures on 24 pass-blocking situations. There were two sacks, three quarterback hits and two hurries on NU’s quarterbacks. CU brought more than four rushers nine times.

The pass blocking grades for Bryce Benhart, Ben Scott and Nouredin Nouili were all solid. Henry Lutovsky and Nouili continue to split reps at right guard. Lutovsky was immediately pulled mid-series after giving up a sack on Sims. Justin Evans-Jenkins comes into the game as an extra offensive lineman in specific running packages.
