RAPID REACTION: Kentucky Takes Down EKU 28-17

“It’s never as good as it seems and it’s never as bad as it seems.” That old coach’s cliche is often applied after film study. The KSR crew isn’t waiting around to watch the film. We’re here for another edition of Rapid Reaction after Kentucky struggled to deliver a knockout blow to EKU in a 28-17 win.

Mark Stoops commended Kentucky’s complementary football, but Adam Luckett disagrees with the head coach. The offense and the defense struggled to find a way to play well at the same time. The special teams were not flawless either, providing big plays on returns, but only after a punt was blocked to set up an EKU score.

The good news is that in spire of the Cats’ struggles, the offense was sharp on its final five possessions. Does that spell good news for the future? As Nick Roush shares, it’s difficult to learn much about anything from Kentucky’s games against FCS foes. This week Jacob Polacheck learned what football is like in Lexington as he joined the KSR crew following his first game at Kroger Field.
