2025 4-star CB Ben Hanks is taking everything in as the recruiting process heats up
Over two dozen schools have offered Ben Hanks. The Florida legacy ranks as the No. 114 prospect in the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings and he is taking everything in.
Since Aug. 1, schools have been able to reach out to recruits in Hanks’ class. The four-star cornerback out of Miami Booker T. Washington has heard from schools like Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Louisville, Miami, Pittsburgh, Wisconsin and others.
He is listening to each school and taking his time with the recruiting process.
“It was kind of hectic at first when coaches first started to reach out, but I have been taking my time, getting back to them when I can and working on building my relationships with them,” Hanks told On3. “I value connections, so this time is important to me. A lot of different schools have been reaching and that means a lot, so I am just letting things play out.”
It is still too early for Hanks to name favorites, but he does have an idea of what he is looking for in a program.
“I am looking for what schools can help me in the classroom and who can make me a man on and off the field. I want to find the best school that can help me compete on and off the field. Who can make me better all around? That is what I am in search.”
Hanks will take things slow. He knows he has plenty of time to make his decision and he plans to use that.
“I am just going through the process,” Hanks added. “I haven’t found that place to call home yet. There is no rush for me. I will take it slow, see what coaches I connect best with and go through the process.”
Hanks is feeling the love from a quartet of schools
Florida, Florida State and Miami are three in-state schools Hanks is talking to daily. Alabama is another one connecting with the lockdown cornerback almost seven days a week. Each program has had him on campus at least once.
“I was at Alabama’s camp over the summer, then was able to tour the campus and talk some with T-Rob (Travaris Robinson),” Hanks said. “I love the program and their winning mentality. Everything about Alabama is a great situation. I like T-Rob. He is a great coach and he has coached some great defensive backs.”
He has positive things to say about each of the in-state programs as well. He has visited Florida and Florida State once. Miami, the school in his backyard, and Hanks will be back this weekend for the Texas A&M game.
“Miami is the hometown team. It is great weather, great coaches and Coach Mario Cristobal great guy. They really want the Miami guys to stay home and help them get back to the top. It would be a great situation down there because it is close to home.
“Florida State is a good program on the rise. I like the energy there and it is not too far from home. The program and the coaches are strong and I have been talking with Coach Patrick Surtain and Coach Mike Norvell.
“Florida has everything. My dad went there, so if I went there I could follow in his footsteps. My dad playing there helps [Florida] a little, but it is my decision. What I like most about Florida is Coach Corey Raymond. We have had some good talks and he has coached a lot of good defensive backs that are in the NFL. I like his background.”
