2025 4-star edge C.J. May visits Auburn, not in rush to announce decision
Class of 2025 four-star outside linebacker C.J. May visited Auburn football on Saturday. The junior from Highland Home (Ala.) was one of several top in-state recruits in attendance for the Tigers’ 59-14 win over UMass.
May kept an eye on Auburn’s defense. More specifically, he kept a close eye on his cousin, Auburn freshman defensive lineman Keldric Faulk. The two were teammates last year at Highland Home.
Faulk, in his college debut, finished with three tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and a half-sack.
“It was great watching big bro Keldric Faulk get out there and play,” he said. “We all know that Keldric is a ball player. I expect nothing less from him, but it was a really overwhelming moment to see him on the big stage doing what he does best.
“The defense overall performed great and I was really glad to see that. The offense also performed really well. Robby Ashford came out and put on a show for us. That was really fun to watch.”
May getting close to announcing commitment?
Maye also got time with the Auburn coaches during the visit.
“I talked to (defensive line coach) Jeremy Garrett,” he said. “We talked about just having fun. He said he wants me to come home (to Auburn), but only time will tell that. Only time will tell.”
May said Auburn is a top school for him, but he’s not quite ready to announce a commitment, at least not publicly.
“I feel like I’m getting close to making a mental decision, but not [publicly]” he said. “In recruiting, it changes every day, mentally, physically … everything. I think mentally, I’m getting close to knowing where I’m ready to commit, but physically I don’t think I’m ready, yet.
“Auburn is really pushing for me hard right now with both of my cousins (Keldric and 2025 commit Jakaleb Faulk) being here. They are trying to pull off the trifecta, as they’ve been saying on social media. But it’s just a lot of pressure building up on me. It’s not something I can’t deal with or do, but it is really hard, though. They are doing a really good job of recruiting me.”
May, who is listed at 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, is the No. 20-ranked edge in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks the No. 238 overall recruit in the country and No. 14 in Alabama.
