Iowa Recruiting Spotlight: Offensive Line
In our Iowa Recruiting Spotlight series, we will be breaking down each position for the Hawkeyes with their top targets in the Class of 2024 and beyond. Up next is offensive line where Iowa is looking to add more depth in the 2024 class with an eye on on the future at the Class of 2025 as well.
Offensive Line, 2024
Before looking at Iowa’s remaining targets, it is important to look at the commits they already have in the Class of 2024. On the offensive line, that includes Cody Fox, a four-star in-state prospect, as well as Illinois native Josh Janowski. The 6-foot-5, 270-pound Fox is a devastating run blocker with good athleticism and an accomplished wrestling background. Likewise, the 6-foot-2, 275-pound Janowski loves to mix it up and plays with the type of mean streak Iowa is looking for on the offensive line. Both commits project on the interior, so from here on out it will be important for the Hawkeyes to add a couple tackles in the class.
Looking back to Iowa’s junior day on March 5, most of the Hawkeyes’ top remaining targets were in town that day. That included top in-state prospect Grant Brix from Logan-Magnolia High School. The 6-foot-6, 270-pound Brix did not grow up following the Hawkeyes, but continues to learn more about the program as he goes through the recruiting process. A dominant blocker on film, he has already earned 23 scholarship offers during the recruiting process. Right now, that list includes Iowa, Iowa State, Notre Dame, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Stanford, Oregon, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Northwestern, Illinois, Duke, Penn State, Tennessee, Auburn, Miami, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, and Ole Miss.
Making the trip down from the Twin Cities on March 5 was offensive tackle Emerson Mandell, who remains a top Iowa target. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound Mandell appreciates how the Hawkeyes approach the recruiting process and continues to build a good relationship with the coaching staff. With great size, strength, and athleticism, Mandell has earned scholarship offers from Iowa, Penn State, Minnesota, Iowa State, Missouri, Illinois, Kansas State, Northwestern, and Northwestern to date.
High school teammates Garrett Sexton and Derek Jensen were also at Iowa’s junior day on March 5 and both have an offer from the Hawkeyes. The 6-foot-6, 290-pound Jenson has been a frequent visitor to Iowa City during the recruiting process and is currently looking over an offer list that includes Iowa, Iowa State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Duke, Purdue, Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas, and Virginia, among others. For the 6-foot-7, 245-pound Sexton on the other hand, the trip this month was his first visit with the Hawkeyes. His recruiting has absolutely blown up in recent months with offers from Iowa, Oklahoma, Stanford, Minnesota, Iowa State, Penn State, Baylor, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Northwestern, Rutgers, Missouri, Illinois, Syracuse, and Kansas.
Omaha offensive tackle Caleb Pyfrom was also back in Iowa City on March 5 for his second visit with the Hawkeyes. The 6-foot-6, 300-pound Pyfrom feels like he is building a good connection with the Iowa coaching staff and says the Hawkeyes are definitely towards the top of his list. That list continues to grow, however, for the athletic Pyfrom, whose father played basketball at Creighton. Currently, he is looking over offers from Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Penn State, Iowa State, Missouri, Illinois, and Wyoming.
Lastly, Indiana native Styles Prescod was able to visit Iowa again this past month. The 6-foot-6, 270-pound Prescod is another prospect that has seen his recruiting take off this winter with new offers from Alabama, Notre Dame, Michigan, Penn State, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Colorado, Illinois, and Tennessee on the table. The Hawkeyes remain in contention, but Notre Dame is considered a favorite and Alabama and Michigan are two of the teams recruiting him the hardest as well.
Other offensive line offers in the Class of 2024 include Nathan Roy, Donovan Harbour, and Ian Moore, who is an Ohio State commit.

Offensive Line, 2025
So far, the Hawkeyes have only offered one offensive lineman in the Class of 2025, which is Owen Strebig. The 6-foot-7, 295-pound Wisconsin native was at Iowa’s junior day on March 5 and continues to stay in close contact with the coaching staff. Overall, he has made three visits to Iowa City during the recruiting process. Of course, there is no shortage of competition for Strebig, who currently sits at No. 47 in the On300 rankings for 2025. The four-star prospect currently holds offers from Iowa, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Michigan, Penn State, Florida, Minnesota, Illinois, Purdue, and Indiana.
