Miami turning up the heat on 2025 QB Bekkem Kritza as season begins, and he’ll attend Hurricanes – Texas A&M game

Miami (Fla.) Central 2025 three-star quarterback Bekkem Kritza has turned into one of the more-coveted quarterback prospects in his recruiting cycle, and Miami is more than in the mix.

The Hurricanes are turning up the heat on the 6-foot-5, 185-pound three-star quarterback as the season begins along with Penn State, Colorado, Texas A&M, Florida State and Louisville. Kritza has also heard from Florida, Michigan and a few other programs in recent weeks, but he’s spoken to Miami head coach Mario Cristobal and offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson “about every other day” since coaches became permitted to directly contact 2025 recruits Aug 1.

“I’m building a great connection with those guys, and I can’t wait to see where it goes,” Kritza said. “They’ve said they’re intrigued by and excited about my arm talent, what I can bring to the field with my physical tools and stuff like that and that they liked my personality. …They told me I’m one of the top guys in the 2025 class and they want me to come in and compete and do all of the things I’m supposed to do.”

Kritza wasn’t dissuaded by Miami’s decision to take fellow 2025 three-star quarterback Luke Nickel earlier this summer and is fine with the possibility of a two-quarterback class. Kritza would be willing to compete with another quarterback for the starting job, and Nickel’s commitment hasn’t affected how Miami has talked to Kritza.

“If they bring someone in, great,” Kritza said. “I just look at that as an opportunity for me to get even better and compete with another guy that’s a top guy in my class. It doesn’t change much for me. They still let me know that I’m a top guy in their recruiting class and they’ll take a quarterback, which is a really great thing. I’m excited.”

Kritza doesn’t plan to publicly announce a top five, but if he did, Miami would be included, he said. He added his commitment is the announcement he’ll care about.

He plans to attend Miami’s Sept. 9 game against Texas A&M as well as home games at Penn State, Michigan, Texas A&M, Florida and Colorado. He has particular excitement about Miami, however, due to his close relationship with Cristobal.

“He’s such a great dude,” Kritza said. “Just talking to him, I think there’s no better head coach in college football in my opinion. I think he has a great group of guys to be around, and I can’t wait to see.”

CaneSport’s Take

Kritza put on a solid performance at one of Miami’s prospect camps earlier this summer and has tremendous arm talent, although he’s still far from a finished product and could benefit from game reps. He’ll receive split playing time with two senior quarterbacks at Central this season, so we may not receive a tremendous sample size of his ability this fall, but the Hurricanes are remaining high on him.
