Josh Allen raves about Anthony Richardson: ‘Threw an absolute dime against us’
Josh Allen appreciated the throw made by quarterback Anthony Richardson. He watched the rookie throw “an absolute dime.”
Now, nobody caught the ball and the game didn’t count. But wow. The Bills veteran wants the Colts first-year starter to know he appreciates his arm.
“You know, I got to see Anthony Richardson live this year,” Allen said during an interview Wednesday on The Pat McAfee Show. “He’s a specimen man. Physical freak. He can spin the ball. He threw an absolute dime against us. It was a corner route. Wasn’t caught against us, but it was an absolute dime.”
Then he recalled what he told Richardson after the game when the two shook hands.
“I’m all about pushing the game forward,” Allen said. “Talking right after the game, ‘if there’s anything that I can do to help,you,’ like I I’m all about pushing the game forward. If there’s a question that he may have, like, reach out to me.
“Like I talk to Trey Lance,” Allen said of the former 49er turned Cowboy quarterback. “We have the same agent, so me and Trey have a nice little relationship. And obviously (he’s got) a new start for him there in Dallas. But you know, I want to help people out, man. I don’t think this is a time to hold things in. Because again, I can help them out. And who knows, they might say something that might switch something in my mind and help me out, too.”

Did you notice the delighted reaction from McAfee when Josh Allen mentioned Anthony Richardson? You can call McAfee a super fan of the rookie. McAfee is a former punter for the Colts. He was on hand for last Thursday’s Colts game against the Eagles. And he joined Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit in the booth, proclaiming “Anthony Richardson’s gonna lead us to a Super Bowl.”

Richardson, who was the No. 4 pick of April’s draft, also is quickly adapting to the ways of the NFL. Indianapolis beat the Eagles, 27-13, in both team’s preseason finale. In the big scheme of things, the game didn’t mean much, other than to help finalize rosters.
However, Richardson celebrated a touchdown drive by flapping his arms like an eagle. Yep, he gave it right back to the hostile Fly-Eagles-Fly crowd.
“I was just having fun,” Richardson told reporters. “I hope nobody takes it the wrong way.”
