Rusty’s Ramblings: Five-Star weekend in Athens, Georgia

Rusty’s Ramblings: Five-Star weekend in Athens, Georgia

Week one means that we get to see Kirby Smart’s eighth Georgia team in action for the first time. It also means that the Bulldogs will get a chance to host some big-time prospects. DawgsHQ has confirmed some visitors and we’ve got some intel on the list below.

*** Georgia will get to host a major target this weekend in 2025 five-star defensive lineman Elijah Griffin. His team, Savannah Christian, plays at Marist on Friday night and he will stay in town with family to see the Bulldogs play on Saturday night. He’s the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2025 class and the nation’s No. 1 defensive lineman per the On3 Industry Ranking. It goes without saying that he’s a massive target for Georgia.

*** I am also expecting another five-star prospect from the 2025 class to be in town. Schley County linebacker Zayden Walker will be in town based on everything I’m hearing. I am telling you, this young man is special and Georgia is very high on him. Miami is also a team heavily involved. His half brother, Jalweis Solomon just verbally committed to Auburn back in July, so the Tigers will be a factor as well.

*** I am working on confirming more names and will have an extended list up by early Thursday morning.

*** On the team side, I want to share a couple of things I heard from Tuesday’s practice. I am told Kendall Milton had some good reps and at this point, it looks like he’ll be able to go in the Georgia opener. I am told again that Andrew Paul continues to stack good practices together. I am looking forward to seeing him play for the first time between the hedges.
