Wolverine TV: Can Michigan flip Top 100 DB Zaquan Patterson from Miami?

The Wolverine’s EJ Holland and Zach Libby discussed several Michigan recruiting topics on the Tuesday edition of The Wolverine Live recruiting show, including the latest on Top 100 Miami (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna safety Zaquan Patterson.

The Patterson Recruitment

Patterson committed to Miami over the weekend. The Hurricanes faded a bit down the stretch but were able to rebound in the waning hours. Patterson picked Miami over fellow finalists Auburn, Florida State, Michigan and Ohio State.

But his recruitment may not be over just yet. Patterson has not taken any official visits and was slated to make one to Michigan for the game against Ohio State before he made his decision. It wouldn’t be surprising if that trip still happens.

Here is what Holland had to say about the situation:

“Michigan has been a constant in this recruitment,” Holland said. “I do expect the official visit to happen for the game against Ohio State. You can get him in The Big House, have him experience that game, hope to pull out a third straight victory over the Buckeyes and really rebuild momentum with him. I think that relationship is still there with Steve Clinkscale as well as Jay Harbaugh. I think they did a fantastic job of recruiting him throughout the process. They are still going to be relentless in their pursuit of Patterson. I think they are going to go all in on flipping him in the fall. It doesn’t hurt to keep pushing and see what happens. But at the end of the day, I still think NIL will be a factor here.”

Patterson is a teammate of Top 100 2025 Michigan defensive back commit Chris Ewald.

At 6-foot, 185 pounds, Patterson is ranked as the No. 3 safety and No. 80 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking.
