The latest intel on Five-Star Plus+ QB Dylan Raiola

The latest intel on Five-Star Plus+ QB Dylan Raiola

Phoenix (Ariz.) Pinnacle Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Dylan Raiola has been traversing the country with his family over the past few months.

He’s been at USC twice, Nebraska twice, and Georgia and Georgia Tech once each since January. The Raiolas had more trips planned in April, but those are being put on the back burner. Based on new intel, a return to Lincoln for the Nebraska spring game and a trip to Oregon to close out April are not likely. The focus is now on the upcoming spring practices at his new school and also training with Los Angeles-based trainer 3DQB.

Right now, his only official visit that’s been set is a trip to Georgia in June. But he and his family are still looking into locking in official visits to USC, Nebraska and Oregon.

What once looked to be a busy April on the road with visits now looks to be calm where the No. 1 quarterback in the country turns his focus to his craft and preparation for his senior season. With that said, a decision from Raiola before his senior season is still expected.

Four programs in contention for Dylan Raiola

After each of his trips to USC, Georgia, and Nebraska, there’s been positive buzz with each program. He loves what Lincoln Riley has done in terms of quarterback development, and the success of guys like Caleb Williams, Kyler Murray and Baker Mayfield under Riley’s watch is very appealing.

The Huskers got his most recent visit, and his family has deep ties to the program in Lincoln. Matt Rhule has made him their without-a-doubt top target in this cycle, and having a family member on staff is no small thing in this recruitment. There is a lot of positive feeling coming out of Lincoln right now as Rhule and Co. are hopeful to bring in the ultimate centerpiece for their first full recruiting class.

Oregon is still trying to hang around and get an official visit from Raiola this summer. He likes what Dan Lanning is building and has a good rapport with offensive coordinator Will Stein, and the Ducks are still chipping away.

Georgia, meanwhile, is a program with more confidence than it had in recent months after Raiola’s visit. Sources tell On3 that the family feels there has been a smooth transition from former offensive coordinator Todd Monken to new OC Mike Bobo, and Dylan connected well with him. The family has connections to the longtime Georgian, namely that he coached Matthew Stafford, a friend and former NFL teammate of Dylan’s dad, Dominic Raiola.

The Bulldogs were the first school to offer him as a recruit and were considered to be a major threat before he committed to Ohio State. After the uncertainty following Monken’s departure, the Bulldogs are very much back in the race.
