Closer Look: Colorado

It is time to head East and talk football in the Rockies. Has any 1-win team generated this much buzz in CFB history? I would argue absolutely not.

Which if you’re Colorado is the name of the game right? Get people talking about you and the Deion Sanders hire has certainly done that. But it almost seems like this might be destined to backfire. And I’m not necessarily talking about the hire of Deion Sanders.

There is so much buzz around Colorado, I think fans have lost grip of reality. Remember this was a 1-win team a year ago. Not only 1 win, but you only held a single opponent under 38 points once all season.

Does tripling the win total satisfy fans? I doubt it. But let’s take a closer look anyways.

Toughest Game: @Oregon

Surprise Win: @Utah

Record Prediction: 2-9

2022 Record: 1-11

Not only is Colorado short on talent, they have a pretty tough schedule. TCU to start, your first conference game is in Eugene, then you host USC the next week. BRUTAL.

Like I said in the introduction, if fans are expecting some rebound season that magically gives the Buffs 6 or 7 wins, I don’t know what to tell you. I don’t see it. It’s fine that you are excited, it’s great if you love the Deion hire. I have no issue with that. But keep one foot planted in reality.

I predict two wins this season, Colorado State in week 3 and a shocker win over Utah in the final game of the season. Don’t ask me why, I’m just shooting my shot.

Colorado has absolutely no depth. None. And the best thing that could happen to Deion Sanders is if his son (Shedeur) or Travis Hunter gets hurt. Not that I want either of them hurt. I don’t. But at least then he’ll have an excuse to blame the 2-10 season. Because if something happens to either or both of those two players, it might just be another 1-11 season.
