Twitter reacts to the release of Untold: Swamp Kings
3 years ago
Twitter has been buzzing since the recent release of the Netflix documentary Untold: Swamp Kings, a series about the Urban Meyer era as coach of the Florida Gators. And it turns out, the doc is as polarizing as Meyer himself.
Some — in large part Florida fans – loved it. Some hated it. Others think too much interesting stuff from that period wasn’t in it. But no matter where people stood, it seems like just about everyone has an opinion on Swamp Kings.
As Si.com put it, “After the four-part docuseries aired, it left many college football fans reminiscing about those on-field glory days of Florida football. However, some college football fans were not pleased with quality of the documentary.”
Here are some notable Twitter reactions about the series …
So I watched the Swamp Kings documentary last night on @netflix. I just want to say that it was an honor to have been able to be a part of this crazy yet exciting journey. I was in tears at some moments, and some moments, I felt like I was right there all over again.
There are many things I’ve chuckled at during Ep. 1 of “Swamp Kings” but the notion that Florida didn’t recruit at a top-flight level before Urban Meyer arrived is pure fiction.
Ron Zook couldn’t coach, but the Gators signed a Top 5 class in 2004 and the NO. 1 CLASS IN 2003.
Loved the Swamp Kings Documentary, but man, you can’t tell the story of that Florida run without hearing from Percy and the Pouncey twins! For 4 episodes, they left so much untold.
In honor of Swamp Kings dropping, let’s take a look at how good that 2008 National Championship team was: 13-1 (8-1) SEC BCS National Champs SEC Champs Beat #4 LSU 51-21 Beat #8 Georgia 49-10 Beat #24 South Carolina 56-6 Beat #23 Florida St 45-15 Beat #1 Alabama 31-20 Beat #2… pic.twitter.com/P1NHHNzX8s

Some creative timeline editing on that fake punt in the SEC Championship from #swampkings
We didn’t use our last timeout til later in the drive right before I hit a bomb that we recovered for a touchdown. Some (me) call it the play that started the SEC dominance! pic.twitter.com/YnMxdqUn9a
Loved the nostalgia of Swamp Kings and and the good feels it brought back. It didn’t tell the whole story and left a lot out. This started by also not telling enough of the Chris Leak arc. Siler was a great revelation and key piece to get it rolling. https://t.co/WM9vuyoV4Z

Urban Meyer and family watching Swamp Kings and realizing all the good storyline were left out
I think it’s quite hilarious that the rival fans and people who hate UF are mad af that the swamp kings doc isn’t bashing the logo and painting UF in a bad light like they thought it would when it will have the opposite effect they wanted
Impressed at how many Gator rival fans took 3 hours out of their lives to watch Swamp Kings. Even if you hated the documentary as a rival, your interest illustrates your respect. God bless!
One quick takeaway after watching the first episode of Swamp Kings: It’s easy to see why Urban Meyer was so successful at Utah, UF and Ohio State. But it’s also easy to see why he wasn’t with the Jaguars. The same kind of style wouldn’t work with with NFL players.
