Lucky Charms: Two more predictions logged for Notre Dame in the 2025 class
Here are today’s Lucky Charms, a Monday-Thursday nightly insider notes article on Notre Dame football recruiting.
On Monday, I logged predictions for Notre Dame to land a couple of top 2025 defensive back targets in Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange’s Ivan Taylor and Indianapolis Ben Davis’ Mark Zackery. For more details on those picks, check out yesterday’s Lucky Charms article. And for today’s Lucky Charms, how about two additional predictions?
*** First up, I’m predicting Notre Dame to land Bryant (Ark.) High’s Daniel Anderson, a 5-11, 190-pound running back in the 2025 class. He currently does not have an On3 or On3 Industry Ranking. This prediction follows On3’s Sam Spiegelman, who predicted the Irish to land him back on Aug. 5. At that point I wasn’t ready to log the pick as I heard Notre Dame wanted to more information on Anderson, and after he put out impressive film from a scrimmage this month, I fully expect the Irish to put the full-court press on the Arkansas native.
He’s likely to visit campus in September and could commit if all goes well on that trip. Sources have indicated that he’s eyeing the Tennessee State game Sept. 2 to kick off the 2023 home slate.
Anderson visited Notre Dame for the Grill and Chill July 30 and raved about his time on campus.
“I learned a lot of new information, especially about the running back group,” Anderson told Blue & Gold. “He (Deland McCullough) told me that he likes to keep around five [scholarship] running backs, and even with that amount, he has a job for everyone to do. No one gets left out; everyone has a position that can fill in and do. I really liked that structure.”
*** The next prediction is for the Irish to land Greenwich (Conn.) Brunswich School’s Ethan Long, an unranked class of 2025 safety. He’s visited Notre Dame three times since April and looks to be a very strong fit for Notre Dame on and off the field. This is looking like a slam dunk recruiting win for the Irish if things continue to progress how they’re currently trending.
Long didn’t get an offer from the Irish until May 30, but he’s been communicating with the staff for several months and has a close relationship with position coach Chris O’Leary and Co. Long is scheduled to visit Notre Dame for the Central Michigan game and is someone we’ll be watching closely as a player who could commit soon afterwards.
“It’s like it’s starting to be like a part of me,” Long told Blue & Gold after his July 30 visit. “Just by how every single time has been a different way of seeing Notre Dame. And I’m starting to think I see it. Like, I’ve basically seen all of it. Like, I know the campus. And I got to know the players and the coaches really well.”
