Georgia one of the major contenders for 2025 TE Bear Tenney
Lucas (Texas) Lovejoy tight end Bear Tenney cuts his list of schools for the first time last week. The 6-foot-5, 225-pound tight end is down to 12 schools.
Georgia is one of the programs left on the board for the three-star tight end. Tenney has the Bulldogs high on his board for multiple reasons.
Georgia tight end coach Todd Hartley is one of the big reasons. Hartley has been on Tenney since his freshman year of high school.
Tenney made his way to Athens for camp and multiple visits in his recruitment. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has the Bulldogs on top early on for Tenney.
Georgia has a 19.3 percent chance of landing Tenney according to RPM. It’s Tenney’s relationship with Hartley that has the Bulldogs in a good spot early on for Tenney.
“Me and Todd Hartley’s relationship has been close since my freshman year,” Tenney said. “To have the opportunity to play for the best team in the nation is huge. I love how they use their tight ends. I’ve recently had a phone call with Hartley and have gotten a lot of mail from Georgia.”
Georgia’s pitch to Bear Tenney
Georgia’s message to Tenney has been about development. In addition to his relationship with Hartley, Georgia provided Tenney an opportunity to play on the NFL stage.
“Coach Hartley’s message to me so far has been that no other college gets you as prepared for the NFL draft as Georgia does,” Tenney said. “You’re going against the best of the best every day in practice with the greatest coaching staff.”
Tenney is intrigued by how Georgia’s tight room operates. The Bulldogs also already have a tight end committed in the class of 2025 in Elyiss Williams.
Tenney isn’t worried by that. Georgia has shown Tenney that different skill sets can be utilized in multiple ways in Athens.
That’s also one of the reasons he feels elite tight-end prospects continue to covet the Bulldogs on the recruiting trail.
The tight end room is special with Brock Bowers and his play style,” Tenney said. “Georgia keeps landing major tight ends because the recruits see how successful they are with their 12 personnel and how big of an impact it makes.”
Tenney feels he’ll make his way to Athens this fall for a game. He’s not sure which game as of now. He was last on campus for Georgia’s win over Tennessee last season.
“It was awesome,” Tenney said.
