‘We are going to keep building a relationship’: 2025 PG Mikel Brown Jr. top target Ole Miss

2025 First Academy (Fla.) point guard Mikel Brown Jr. was offered by Chris Beard and Ole Miss in May. Now, he is giving the Rebels a much more detailed look. The country’s 12th overall junior prospect spoke with Brandon Jenkins of CBS Sports about his recruitment. He spoke highly of Beard and Ole Miss.

Wes Flanigan reaches out,” Brown said. “Our relationship is cool because he reaches out every week. We are going to keep building a relationship because they have a great coaching staff with great players and they play in a great conference.”

The 6-foot, 150 pound point guard played with the SE Elite program on the Adidas 3SSB 17u Circuit last summer. The sophomore averaged 12.6 points, 2.9 assists, and shot 35 percent from three-point range. Since then, he has been a staple on the numerous circuits throughout the last year. Most recently, On3 analysts were impressed with Brown at the USA Basketball Minicamp.

“I have been really impressed with 2025 four-star point guard Mikel Brown Jr.,” On3’s Joe Tipton said. “He can really score it and finds his teammates well. Brown Jr. is also not afraid of the moment and plays with confidence.”

On3’s national basketball analyst Jamie Shaw was also in attendance at the three-day event and was impressed with the rising junior.

“(Mikel Brown Jr.) played with a ton of confidence throughout the day,” Shaw said. “He also made shots, showing smooth form off the catch.”

He is the No. 1 point guard in the country and the No. 1 prospect from the state of Washington. Those rankings are earned not given. Brown has continued his tear on the spring and summer circuit with another impressive showing at the Adidas 3SSB event last month.

Tipton once again had a ton of praise for the Sunrise Christian Academy (Kan.) recruit. He was impressive in the Lone Star State in April.

“(Mikel Brown Jr. is a fearless scorer and can get you a bucket whenever you need,” Tipton said. “He exudes confidence. Alabama and Texas Tech are his latest offers, joining Michigan, Auburn, Kansas, Kansas State, and others.”
