Texas Longhorns Wednesday Recruiting Intel

Latest Intel on two top targets for 2024 and an upcoming decision for a junior tight end prospect in Wednesday’s recruiting intel.
Jordan Anderson, WR, Newport Beach (Calif.) Newport Harbor – Oregon commit
The smooth 6-foot, 180-pound On3 four-star has been committed to Oregon since December 22, 2022. Anderson connected with the Longhorns soon after, and along the way, he’s built a relationship with Chris Jackson and the Texas Longhorns staff.
Jackson told Inside Texas in late Spring he’s looking at a Texas official visit, but nothing was scheduled. Well, recently Anderson reached out to the UT staff to check in on the Horns.
Anderson remains one of the top prospects on the Texas big board and getting him on campus this fall for a game is the next move.
As a junior, Anderson tallied 984 yards receiving and 14 scores. He also averaged 20.9 yards a catch and finished last season with 1,026 yards of total offense, in addition to helping out on defense with 38 tackles, three tackles for a loss and one interception.
Anderson ranks as the No. 147 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted industry-generated average that accounts for all four major recruiting sites. He also tabs in as the No. 25 wide receiver and the No. 16 player in the state of California.
Terry Bussey, ATH, Timpson (Texas)
The state’s top-rated athlete is ready to make his decision on September 28th.
Bussey scheduled official visits to LSU and Alabama (when they play Texas) next month. And UT is still pushing to get him on campus as well. He remains in contact with Steve Sarkisian and Jackson on a regular basis.
The timeline doesn’t help the Horns, but they’ll still recruit Bussey through the whistle.
Timpson will scrimmage on Friday in Lovelady, at 7pm. Bussey is still rehabbing from offseason surgery.
Bear Tenney, TE, Lucas (Texas) Lovejoy – 2025
The 6-foot-5, 225 pound prospect has only been in Texas a short time, moving from Gilbert (Ariz.) Hamilton earlier in 2023. But he’s setting into the Lone Star State and dropped his top 12 schools on Tuesday; USC, Georgia, Auburn, Colorado, Michigan, Ohio State, LSU, Oregon, Penn State, Texas, Tennessee, and Utah.
“I’m going to hit up a couple of games before I announce my commitment.” Tenney tells Inside Texas. “So probably in the next couple months.”
Texas and Tenney continue to build the relationship, and he’s looking at a possible game in Austin this fall.
Tenney is ranked as the No. 415 overall prospect and No. 24 tight end in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is the No. 68 prospect in Texas.
