Recruit Spotlight: Brayden Platt

With recruiting in a bit of a slow period, we’ll take a little closer look at some of the Ducks top remaining targets in the coming weeks. And since he’s going to make a commitment sooner than most, I figured we’d start with Yelm (Wash.) linebacker Brayden Platt.

The 6-foot-1, 240-pounder is the No. 215 ranked player in the On3 Industry Rankings. He’s the No. 20 ranked linebacker in the country.

Fortunately this one boils down to a pair of schools making his breakdown just a little bit easier.

The Contenders: Oregon & Oklahoma

The Commitment Date: Sept. 4

My Current Prediction: Oregon 70%

Jhop’s Take

This was an easier one to start with as its basically an early preview of his commitment. Platt is going to make his college choice in just a few weeks and ultimately he kept things fairly easy. He posted a top eight back in April but most knew for a while it was Oregon vs Oklahoma. And that hasn’t changed in the last few weeks.

The only thing that has changed is the confidence level in Oregon landing the four-star. By no means is it fair to call him a lock, but the feeling is he’s starting to lean Oregon’s direction.

Platt is a super athletic backer that would be a homerun in Lanning’s defense. He can run side to side and cover a lot of space. It also helps he’s no small guy at roughly 240 pounds.

If Oregon can pull off the addition of Platt to its 2024 class, it’s going to be a big-time addition to an already great linebacker group for Lanning. This certainly seems like it could be Oregon’s next commit.
