Hurricanes target Joshua Moore breaks down UM, top programs: “Miami, they’re the hometown school”

Pembroke Pines (Fla.) West Broward 2025 receiver Joshua Moore has risen to popularity over the last several months, landing offers from more than a dozen programs including Miami, Florida, Florida State, Tennessee and Ohio State, among others. And several programs are standing out to the 6-foot-3, 170-pound prospect.
“Miami, Clemson, Ohio State, Pitt and FSU,” the three-star receiver said. “Miami, they’re the hometown school. They’re basically gonna need to show improvement to see if they got better from last year, receiver improvement and everything. They’ve got the coaches. I love (head) coach (Mario) Cristobal, and I love coach the receivers coach, coach (Kevin Beard).”
Florida State and Seminoles receivers coach Ron Dugans have made strong impressions as well. FSU’s offensive success last season and the team’s hype heading into the 2023 season has snagged his attention. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine lists FSU with an estimated 30.7% chance to land the coveted wideout. He took unofficial visits to Miami, Florida and FSU this spring.
“(Miami and FSU) like that I can get moving, I can run and how I cut coming out of my breaks,” Moore said. “(Miami’s message has been) that it’s home, it’s close to home, it’s close to my family, all of my family can go to my games. They want to make Miami great again.”
Moore isn’t tied to staying in South Florida or living in a particular city, instead saying he’s “pretty much open to anything.” He’s talked to Miami’s coaching staff daily since Aug. 1 and said Miami, Clemson, Penn State and Pittsburgh have done the best job recruiting him since the start of August.
He wants to visit Ohio State, Penn State and West Virginia this fall along with Florida’s three major in-state schools.
CaneSport’s Take
Moore is a long, physical receiver who understands how to take advantage of his massive frame and has positioned himself to make a jump in the recruiting rankings this fall. He’s landed plenty of attention from major programs and is becoming a major recruiting target, and he should be able to pick and choose which programs he hopes to visit this fall.
We expect to hear his name plenty as the 2025 recruiting class gradually moves into the spotlight barring any major injuries this season. He hauled in 50 receptions for 1034 yards and 11 touchdowns a season ago, and we expect his production to increase this fall.
