WHAT’S UP TODAY
First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?
Well, don’t miss all the feedback coming out of Miami’s opening fall scrimmage that was open to fan as part of Canes Fest on Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium. We have your wrapup, highlights and notes from what we saw out there plus comments from coach Mario Cristobal.
There’s also plenty of recruiting news to tide you over until we have more practice updates and reports. It started with our full coverage of the commit of Louisiana OL product Keyvion Broussard, the third commitment of the weekend after 2025 QB Luke Nickel’s commitment on Friday night and DE Elias Rudolph’s flip from Miciigan. So check all that out.
Also among our stories: Updates with a couple of five-stars. With a commitment date set for Aug. 26, it is coming down to the wire for Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy five-star defensive lineman David Stone, who is set to pick between Florida, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Michigan State, Oregon and Miami. He updates where things stand. Also don’t miss our update with Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy 5-star CB Ellis Robinson IV. He was an early Georgia commitment who took an unofficial visit to Miami in April and was back again for an official visit in June. And Miami is still pushing.
Also check out our updates with commitments Ryan Mack and OJ Frederique. Have they shut things down? We also catch up with a 4-star RB teammate of commit Kevin Riley, who is pushing him to Miami. Chris Cole has the Canes in his final group heading into a fall announcement, we talk with him, plus we have some updates on key guys in future classes.
Another update: The Hurricanes’ coaching staff has spoken daily to four-star running back Deandre Desinor, the No. 50 overall prospect in the 2025 class and No. 4 running back, since coaches became allowed to directly call and text 2025 prospects Aug. 1. Miami is picking up on momentum the staff generated with Desinor at the end-of-July recruiting barbecue. His status?
And Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage 2026 quarterback Dia Bell’s recruitment took off this summer, picking up offers from Miami, Florida, Penn State and others, and the Hurricanes have always had a special place for the 6-foot-1, 185-pound gunslinger.
Plus, after an impressive outing at a Miami summer camp working in front of Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal and wide receivers coach Kevin Beard, Archbishop Shaw (La.) wide receiver Jacob Washington earned his first Division I offer from the Canes, a program he has long watched and loved. So don’t miss his thoughts on where things stand now.
And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

TWEETS OF THE DAY
MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY
Expectation for this season … Posted by advarkas
I expect to see notable improvement, but this team went 5-7 last year with a massive toxic culture problem. Half the roster gone. Both coordinators gone and replaced. QB turmoil – it’s now on TVD. RBs injured coming back. I’m sure the OL and DL will play a bit better – how much remains to be seen. Roster is full of unproven youthful talent. So many questions.
going from 5-7 to 8-4 or 9-3 (at best) would be a massive improvement in my opinion, and then Year 3 you expect a 10-2 type season and an ACC CG appearance.
MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY
“Why not Miami? Miami’s right here. I don’t have to leave or go anywhere. And while I like Miami, it’s just more like home. They treat you like you’re home. They tell you, ‘Why do your parents have to fly to go see your game when they could come right here in Miami and drive up to come see your games?’”
