Nuggets: Couple Kansas State injuries on defense

Kansas State apparel deal

As famed KSO poster ‘TX’ shared on the message board, Kansas State is in negotiations for a new apparel deal. And although they remain in discussions with Nike, there is a scenario where the two end their long-standing working relationship.

Multiple sources have confirmed that development.

An exclusive negotiating window with the sports gear king has already come and went without a new contract in place, and there is a notion that Nike is fine with disassociating with K-State if it comes to that.

Also noted was that talks have heated up between Kansas State and Under Armour. That’s not to say that an agreement is imminent, and much of this could be negotiating tactics, but conversations have intensified.

We have been told that Monday will be a significant day in terms of the Wildcats’ direction.

Playing time for Avery

There is no secret that Avery Johnson has lived up to the hype since arriving at K-State. He impressed and blew the coaches away during the Spring, and has stunned all of his teammates with his playmaking ability and speed.

However, that doesn’t mean a lot of playing time awaits him. After all, the unquestioned starter under center is Will Howard. But the arrow is pointed upward for Johnson, and head coach Chris Klieman hasn’t even shied away from stating that he is a legitimate contender for the back-up role.

While we still believe a redshirt is likely still the plan, it has been shared that having a package for the Kansas State true freshman would not be a surprise.

Couple K-State injuries

For the most part, K-State has avoided the injury bug in the offseason. The only real setback was Christian Duffie going down with a lower body ailment that could keep him out for the first couple games. But a couple more dings have occurred, this time on the defensive side of the ball.

We have been informed that both Daniel Green and Uso Seumalo are missing practice at the moment. Neither situation is considered severe or long-term and there isn’t a ton of concern on the outlook of either.

A chance remains that both could make it back for the season opener, but that is still to be determined and much of it will be dependent on how they recover in the next week or two.
