2025 OL Kalvin Janssen could be the next in-state recruit to receive offer from Nebraska

2025 OL Kalvin Janssen could be the next in-state recruit to receive offer from Nebraska

Nebraska had around 30 recruits in Lincoln last Sunday. There were recruits from both the 2024 and 2025 recruiting classes. Kalvin Janssen from Gretna (Neb.) attended the end of the summer BBQ in Lincoln, and the 6-foot-3 and 280-pound junior offensive lineman got some excellent feedback from the Husker staff.

Janssen was the only 2025, in-state recruit that was at the event at Nebraska that didn’t have an offer. The Nebraska staff had a lot of positive things to tell Janssen about where he is on their radar.

“It was fun, and they had a lot of good things to say, too,” Janssen said. “They told me I was one of their top guys that weekend. So that was pretty exciting.”

Kalvin Janssen played RT as a sophomore, Nebraska sees him as IOL

Nebraska sees Janssen moving inside at the next level. He says he’s comfortable playing in the wider area of offensive tackle, but he could move inside to play in college.

“I played right tackle my sophomore year. Nebraska says that they can see me playing guard and center. To move outside to inside is fine. I am more comfortable at tackle, but I can play some guard.”

Janssen got out to see several schools this summer and even to a mega camp. He received good feedback but is still looking for that first offer.

“I went to Nebraska, Kansas State, South Dakota, Kansas, and the mega camp at Lindenwood,” Janssen said. “I don’t have any offers yet, but Nebraska is talking to me a lot, and so is North Dakota State.”

Janssen will be back in Lincoln this fall for a game

Nebraska mentioned to Janssen that they would like to have him back for a game during the season. He isn’t sure what game he will be able to attend.

“I am planning on going down to Lincoln for a game. We didn’t discuss when they want me to come back, but I want to get back.”

The comments from the 2025 commitments, Caden VerMaas and Tyson Terry, have been positive about Matt Rhule and how the Huskers are recruiting in-state players. Janssen agrees that he has been getting a lot of attention from the Nebraska staff.

“They have been great,” Janssen said. “I have been communicating with a lot of the recruiting guys from Nebraska. It’s been nice.

“I have talked with coach Raiola a little bit, but right now, I am getting recruited by Keith Williams and Omar Hales.”

Gretna has been one of the top programs in the state the last two seasons but has a lot of holes to fill from last season’s team. Janssen feels like they will have one of the best offensive lines in the state this year.

“We should have one of the best offensive lines in the state,” Janssen said. “There is Griffin Goldman, Mason’s little brother, and I am sliding over to left tackle. Griffin plays left guard right next to me.”

Janssen’s father played high school baseball at Gretna and went on to pitch at Northwest Missouri State.
