Colsen Gatten from Pittsburgh (Pa.) Central Catholic is excited about his sophomore season, which is around the corner. Nebraska started following the talented linebacker recently on social media and got Gatten on the phone on Saturday night to extend an offer to the talented sophomore linebacker.

“Nebraska started following me on social media recently,” Gatten said. “I was able to get the offer last evening from coach Rhule and coach DiMichelle. It was very exciting!

“Since I’m a 2026 recruit, there are certain rules that need to be followed so communication can be a little limited until Aug 1 next year.”

Colsen Gatten can’t wait to get out to Nebraska for a visit

Gatten had a great talk with the Nebraska coaches. After talking with coach Matt Rhule, Gatten feels confident that Nebraska will return to being a top program. He is looking forward to taking a visit to Nebraska. He needs to work out his schedule this fall.

“I was able to talk to the coaches over the phone. They were awesome on the call. We talked about coach Rhule’s plans to bring the program back to the great Nebraska days. After we spoke I have no doubt he’ll bring Nebraska back like he has the other programs he’s been involved with.

“We didn’t get into position specifics other than briefly discussing the linebacker position. I can’t wait to get out there to take a visit. Nebraska will definitely be at the top of the list. I have to balance getting there with my HS schedule.”

The Nebraska offer makes four total offers for Colsen Gatten

Gatten is up to four offers now, and he took a trip to a couple of schools this summer for camps. The priority visits for Gatten this fall will be to get to all of the schools that have offered.

“I have offers from Pitt, Penn State, Wisconsin, and now Nebraska. We went up to Penn State and Pitt for 7v7 camps. I plan to take visits in the fall. The four that have offered me would be my biggest priorities to visit this fall.”

After a successful freshman season, Gatten says he has been working all summer to prepare for his sophomore year.

“I can not wait for the season,” Gatten said. “Our team will take us as far as we want to go. I feel like I had a great offseason with my best abilities being my speed and hip mobility.”
