4-star CB Kam Mikell sticking to his timeline as Georgia makes push

4-star CB Kam Mikell sticking to his timeline as Georgia makes push

Statesboro (Ga.) four-star cornerback Kam Mikell has a timeline in his head. The No. 53 overall prospect in the On3 rankings for the class of 2024 isn’t in a rush to commit.

He’s hoping to make a decision this fall. Mikell feels he’s not ready. When he commits, he wants to be sure of his decision.

“Some places feel like home but I have to make sure before all of that,” Mikell said.

Mikell plans on taking more visits. He will officially visit Tennessee and Kentucky this fall. Mikell will make his way to Knoxville on Nov. 18. He will officially visit Kentucky on Sept. 8. Mikell has recently set an official visit to Texas A&M on Oct. 7. He’s also looking toward an official visit to Colorado.

He visited Texas A&M last weekend.

“The coaches have been talking to me so I kind of wanted to go out there and meet them,” Mikell said. “All of the places that offer me, I kind of want to go to and visit because you never know where you can go. I really liked it out there. It was a fun time. They had the pool party, so that was fun getting to hang with the players.”

Georgia making a push for Kam Mikell

On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has Georgia out front at the moment. Georgia has an 89.2 percent chance of landing the four-star cornerback according to RPM.

He’s already taken his official to Georgia back on May 19. Mikell has remained in contact with Georgia coaches on a regular basis.

They’ve turned up the heat a bit as of late. Georgia recently lost the commitment of four-star safety Jaylen Heyward. Five-star safety target KJ Bolden committed to Florida State on Saturday night.

Mikell has always felt like a major target for Georgia but that has even intensified in the last few weeks.

“They’ve been talking to me a lot more,” Mikell said. “Nothing has really been different since they’ve been recruiting me forever. They’ve wanted to talk more about me changing my decision time and I’m not really (interested in) that. How I look at it is, even if I commit, they’ll still be recruiting me and I don’t really feel ready to commit yet.”

Mikell has a strong relationship with Georgia defensive backs coach Fran Brown. There is a relationship that goes beyond the football field that has Mikell’s attention between him and Brown.

“Sometimes we don’t talk about football, we talk about outside stuff,” Mikell said back on June 19. “There’s a really good connection between us.”
