Offer from Florida Gators ‘dream come true’ for south Florida WR

Cortez Mills’ recruitment continues to pick up steam. This week alone, Florida, Auburn and Georgia have offered. That gives the 4-star 2025 receiver from Homestead (Fla.) 31 offers total.

The Gators made the move Wednesday. And he was excited about it.

“It means a lot,” Mills told Gators Online. “Florida was supposed to offer freshman year at Friday Night Lights. They just kept in contact but never offered. So it was like shocking when they called me out of nowhere and offered. It was like a dream come true.”

The offer came from assistant receivers coach David Doeker.

“He told me he liked my swag on the field,” Mills said. “He liked that I’m consistent, he liked how I block and can run routes at slot and outside.”

According to Mills, he attended a game at Florida last season.

“It was a pretty good game,” he said. “I liked how it went, moving smooth and treating me like family. Throwing some good deep balls and I like to see that.”

What kind of interest does the 6-foot-1, 170-pound Mills have in Florida now that he holds an offer?

“It’s high, no doubt,” Mills said. “Because with Florida, I know they’re going to get me to where I need to go.”

Now, Mills plans to return to Gainesville during the 2023 season for another game.

“I just want to see how they treat me and see a couple deep balls,” he said. “I want to visit Louisville, Michigan, Clemson, Nebraska and Florida.”

What type of receiver is Mills? He described his game like this: “I’m not really a speed guy. I just create separation. You’ve got go check the film.”

As of now, Mills seems to be taking things in stride with regards to his recruitment. He said he has no commitment timeframe yet.
