RADAR ’25: Michigan State hosts 2025 in-state wide receiver Antwon Thomas

RADAR ’25: Michigan State hosts 2025 in-state wide receiver Antwon Thomas

Class of 2025 wide receiver Antwon Thomas made his fourth unofficial visit to East Lansing over the weekend of July 29 for the Spartan Dawg Con event. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound receiver out of Belleville (MI) most recently camped with the Spartans and wide receivers coach Courtney Hawkins in June. He does not hold a Michigan State offer just yet, but does hold offers from Penn State, West Virginia, and others.

He currently ranks the No. 474 overall recruit, the No. 31 athlete, and the No. 10 recruit in Michigan by the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings.

“It was great,” Thomas told SpartanMag.com. “I loved the energy. I spent most of my time with Coach Tino (Smith) and Coach Hawkins. This was my fourth time up at the campus. I enjoy my time there each time. This time I had my parents and my younger brothers with me. It was nice having them experience that with me.”

“My family had a lot of positive feedback on our way home. They really like Coach Hawkins and Coach Tino. They treated us like family. It was great energy.”

Thomas and Hawkins have been able to form a strong bond that only grows stronger with each visit to campus.

“He was letting me know the three important keys for Michigan State football,” Thomas said. “Football, academics, and family. He touched on that during our conversation. (Hawkins) also let me know to keep doing what I am doing. Then the sky is the limit.”

As for the Spartan Dawg Con event, Thomas and his family were able to talk to former players who also attended the event. The receiver saw some familiar faces as he previously told SpartanMag.com about his training connections to Spartan alumni B.J. Cunningham and Mark Dell. Thomas also spent some time with former players while on campus for the June camp.

“I met a few of them already at the camp I attended a few months ago but to be able to hear their story on how they were recruited was interesting,” Thomas said. “They all spoke highly about Michigan State and said it was the best decision (for them). It was an amazing experience. I was able to meet a lot of alumni that was there they spoke to us about how they were recruited and why they choose Michigan State.”

Thomas also spent time with the current class of Michigan State 2024 commitments, building even more bonds in East Lansing.

“Enjoyed my time with the commits that was there,” Thomas said. “The food was great! It was a truly amazing experience. They are huge on brotherhood. That was shown throughout the whole day.”

Jason’s take:

Michigan State could be close to offering the in-state receiver, as they have been able to evaluate him in person at camp. The Spartans will likely wait for a couple games of junior film at this point in the year, with an offer a strong possibility into the season. Thomas is a quick, fluid receiver, who also demonstrates the ability to play on both sides of the ball as he transitions to a new role at Belleville.

Thomas will receive passes from five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood, also in the 2025 class. Belleville will face off against River Rouge in the first game of the season on September 1. Nick Marsh will suit up for River Rouge in the anticipated matchup.
