Recruiting Notebook: Jayden Quaintance and Jasper Johnson Shine in Louisville

A couple of Kentucky basketball targets – Jayden Quaintance and Jasper Johnson – led the way at the MADE Hoops High School Academy over the weekend, looking like the two best players at the camp.
Quaintance, a 6-foot-10, 225-pound center from Word of God Christian Academy (Raleigh, NC) recently added an offer from Kentucky and reclassified from 2025 to 2024.
“They’ve done it before,” Quaintance told KSR+. “They’ve had so many pros, so it’s always a good spot to go for development and everything really.”
Meanwhile, Johnson, a 6-foot-2, 165-pound combo guard from Link Academy (MO) remains in the class of 2025, while the option to reclassify into 2024 remains on the table. Regardless of class, Kentucky remains in hot pursuit.
“They definitely want me to come and be a main point guard,” Johnson told KSR+. “I’ve been talking to Coach Cal [John Calipari] and Coach [Orlando] Antigua a lot. They told me I can go into the gym whenever. I live 10 minutes from there. It’s the same thing a lot of the other schools are saying as well.”
However, Quaintance and Johnson weren’t the only two standouts at the MADE Hoops event. 2025 prospects Kaden Magwood and Trent Sisley made quite the impression. KSR+ sat down with both players to discuss their games and recruitment.
Kaden Magwood Makes Good Impression at MADE Hoops
Kaden Magwood started off the MADE Hoops event by drilling a game-winning shot in overtime of the day’s first scrimmage.
The 6-foot-2, 160-pound shooting guard from Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, VA) is a pure scorer and that was on full display in Louisville.
“I’m building a lot of new relationships with my teammates,” Magwood told KSR+. “I’m being energetic at everything – stations and teamwork. We just got the dub, so we’re feeling good.”
Magwood said that a college coach who’s currently recruiting him asked him to work his “LEO” which he described as “being loud, early and often.”
“All in all, I’m just trying to communicate with everybody and be energetic,” he said.
Magwood, the No. 117 overall prospect in the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings, considers a wide range of skills to be his greatest strengths on the court.
“I know one of them is scoring,” he said. “Two, facilitating. I feel like I can pass really well. Three is defense. When I want to play defense, I’m a really good defender. Rebounding. I’m a good rebounder for my position.”
As for the recruiting process, despite not hearing from Kentucky, Magwood is being recruited by several high-major programs.
“It’s been good,” he said. “I’ve gotten a lot of looks and a lot of offers. There should be more to come.”
Magwood listed Illinois, LSU, Alabama, Indiana, Penn State, Louisville, and Florida State among the schools in contact as he is getting ready to set up visits.
“When I go to school, we’ve got an open weekend and I’m going to set them up for open weekend,” he said.
When it comes to finding the right program, Magwood said it all comes down to the staff.
“Great coaching,” he said. “A coach that’s going to push me. Family-oriented and people that like to work.”
Trent Sisley Being Pursued by the Big Ten
Trent Sisley was another standout in Louisville over the weekend, making a short trip from Indiana to attend.
The 6-foot-7, 200-pound power forward from Heritage Hills (Santa Claus, IN) used the camp to show off his athleticism and shot.
“I’m trying to knock down my shot a little more, more consistently,” Sisley told KSR+ .”I’m really just trying to show my whole skill set and play in transition too.”
Sisley, the No. 55 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings, said his greatest strengths are his athleticism and ability to play in transition.
“Right now, I want to add strength in my shooting, but I don’t think it’s quite there yet,” he said. “[I’m working on] my spot up three and threes off the dribble. Also, my mid range game, coming off ball screens to hit a pull up.”
For Sisley, the recruiting process has been dominated by Big Ten schools, hearing from the likes of Indiana, Purdue, and Michigan State, as well as Notre Dame.
“It hasn’t been too bad,” Sisley said. “It’s not too overwhelming. There are definitely a lot of schools interested right now.”
Sisley has already taken visits to Indiana, Purdue, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Iowa. He said he may start planning visits for the near future.
“I’m going to try and get to some places in the fall,” he said.
When it comes to choosing a school, Sisley anticipates a decision to come as he heads into his senior year in 2024.
“I’m looking for somewhere that’s a good fit for me with a good opportunity for me to play,” he said. “Somewhere we can just win and hopefully go far.”
