4-star LB Kris Jones ready and at peace with his decision

Fairfax (Va.) four-star linebacker Kris Jones is ready to focus. His mind is made up on where he wants to play college football.

The No. 128 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings will announce his college commitment at 7 p.m. on Sunday night.

He’s looking forward to focusing on his last year of high school football.

“I just want to get it out of the way so I can focus on the season,” Jones said. “The last two years have been very busy but now that I’ll be committed I can just focus on football and that’s it.”

Even before making his decision public, Jones is at peace with what he’s chosen. The school he decided on checked off a lot of his boxes. Jones feels it’s what’s best for him long term.

“I just feel like the decision I’m about to make for me personally and for my game is the best decision out of all the other schools,” Jones said. “I’m glad this process is over. I’m definitely grateful for all the opportunities and moments that I went through on this journey. It all can be a little tiring.”

Jones feels there is some bittersweetness to the process ending for him. He’s built strong relationships with each of the three schools left on his board: Georgia, Florida and Michigan State.

Telling each coach will be the thing that sticks with him after the fact.

“I’ve built relationships with coaches from each school,” Jones said. “The hardest part is saying that I’m not coming and ending those relationships. I understand that you have to do what you have to do so you can do what you want to do.”

On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has Georgia as Jones’ leader going into commitment day. The Bulldogs have an 89.1 percent chance of landing the four-star linebacker.

Jones took official visits to Florida, Georgia and Michigan State in June. Those were his only three official visits. He feels done with visits at least for a while.

Jones currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of 97K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
