Blue Chips: Latest on top Michigan targets Aaron Scott, Bennett Warren ahead of decisions

*** Let’s just start off with this. I don’t think an Ohio State fan site releasing a Michigan reaction video means anything in terms of where Top 100 Springfield (Ohio) High cornerback Aaron Scott is going. I think it was just a terrible mistake on their end. I do, however, believe Scott hasn’t told told Ohio State where he’s going — or Michigan for that matter. Scott has done a great job of playing things close to the vest during his recruitment. I’ll also say I don’t think this is a Bryce West situation. He was always going to Ohio State. Michigan has given Scott plenty to think about.
*** All has been quiet on the Michigan side for the last week. With about 24 hours to go before the decision, I still feel like the pick is going to be Ohio State. If I had to put in a prediction right now, it would be in favor of the Buckeyes. But I don’t know for sure. This isn’t a Jordan Shipp situation, where I’m basically telling you all to move on. Deep down, I still think there is a small chance Scott does indeed ‘shock the world.’ It may be a 5 or 10 percent chance, but there is a sliver of hope. Michigan hasn’t given up. And again, while I feel they’ll fall short, they aren’t completely dead — yet.
*** On300 Fort Bend (Texas) Christian offensive tackle Bennett Warren is set to make his decision in 48 hours. Unlike the rest of the market, I never put in a prediction for Michigan. I said it a couple of times, but Warren reminds me of a former Michigan commit from the Houston-area in Jordan Elliott. Like Warren, he said all the right things about U-M and was unpredictable, but I never felt like he was going to sign with the Wolverines. Of course, I was on the Texas beat at the time and Elliott signed with the Longhorns before transferring. Now, I feel like I’m reliving this on the Michigan beat with Warren. As I’ve said for multiple weeks, I’m still leaning Tennessee here.
*** Warren’s parents absolutely love Michigan and were extremely impressed on the official visit last month. I’m told that if the parents had their pick, it would likely be U-M. While Warren really does like Michigan, I feel like his heart is with Tennessee. I’ve heard buzz that he was close to picking the Volunteers following his final official visit. However, his family didn’t seem fully onboard. As we approach his announcement, I get the feeling that Warren will make his own decision. I’m not putting in a prediction this close to a decision date, but if I had to, I would go with Tennessee.
