2024 Texas tight end commit Jordan Washington: “I’m done.”

2024 Texas tight end commit Jordan Washington: “I’m done.”

For Houston (Texas) Langham Creek tight end and Texas commit Jordan Washington, he’s seen enough.

“I’m done,” Washington told Inside Texas, about the recruiting process, following the Texas Bash in Austin on Thursday. “I’m grateful this is over.”

It was the first time back on the Forty Acres since his commitment on July 4th. Seeing the coaches, players, and prospects, Washington felt at home.

“Today, it was really easy,” Washington said. “It was a smooth. Everybody got along with each other. It wasn’t too much. It was like nice and chill.”

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound tight end took trips to Texas A&M, Arizona State, and UTSA. Alabama came through with an offer too. But after his official visit in Austin, he knew Texas was home. Now he gets to put on the recruiter hat.

But ultimately, what sold him on the Horns?

“So what ultimately made me choose is coach (Jeff) Banks saying ‘I have tools that tight end (Ja’Tavion) Sanders doesn’t have,” Washington explained. “As in the receiving ability, the route-running, I have the ability to go catch the ball. Last year it kind of said something to me, but at the same time coach Banks, he was like, ‘I’m only looking for one and the one is you.’ He’s telling me like that, and the starting tight end is my host. It must mean I am the next kind of guy to be in that room.”

At the end of the day, growing up in burnt orange led him to Austin.

“Overall, choosing Texas was the better decision just because I grew up a Longhorn fan,” said Washington. “I have pictures of me in Longhorn outfits and clothes. I just knew it was my childhood dream.”

Washington is the No. 490 overall prospect and No. 32 tight end in the 2024 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 86 player in Texas.

Washington currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $21K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
